Don't Talk to ...? (Stranger theme)

It took a few tries to notice the strangers. My eyes kept sliding off them, convinced there was something more attention-worthy to their left or right. Gaping mouths and blank visages surrounded me. Non-descript hands grasped my face. Names tingled on the tip of my tongue. Perhaps they were shared cabs, one-night stands, forgotten penpals? Indefinite hands grasped at me as I asked my wife if she recognized any of them.

She furrowed her brow. “No, I don’t think so.” she said, gaze drifting to a bland still life behind us. “But let me know if you see my husband.”

Sorry for the before version. This was written on my word-count impaired word processor, and so - yes. I fixed it. Thanks Algernon, I'm glad you helped me notice.

What are you trying to do, hijack your own thread?

This was a good one! :D

Thanks! I think it sort of disappeared before...glad it got seen at last!

This was inspired by a guy I'd known pretty well in childhood. He was so excited to see me, and though i vaguely remembered his face, nothing at all would come to me. He was so disappointed that even when I did remember, he was pretty hurt. What if that happened to everyone he knew...?

Truly terrifying.

You stinking bastard!

Sorry. That happened to me with mom. I'm touchy.

I stink? Oh...well, I can't argue that.

You're welcome to borrow my mother on Tuesdays. Despite producing me, I think she's a rather good mother.
