The Summoning (Lovecraft-ish theme)

I listened with mounting horror, unable to intervene as she spoke the dreadful syllables I had so feared.
“Yes, Thursday is perfect, Mom.”
The fear swelled to horror and my blood began to chill.
“It’ll be so good to see both of you!”
My very sanity grew thin and weak, straining under the weight of those words; alien sounds they were that made no earthly sense.
“Nonsense, Jim doesn’t care. You two stay as long as you like. Give Dad my love and I’ll see you both in two days.”
No.
The mad fool had summoned The Grating Old Ones.

(I have to credit (or blame) Sunner for the In-Law angle, but I figured this was different enough to warrant posting.)
