Pogo

I dreamt the cascading, bubbling giggles of a child as she flew across the room, pogoing recklessly from her drip stand. The mother I knew was severe, restrained. I awoke consumed by grief, scaring Laura immensely. Dad insisted Mum had changed after I was born.

The next day in the stroke ward, when I slumped in the chair next to her bed, tense and drained by the hospital's environment, I saw the dents in the ceiling. Mum didn't speak to me as usual, and now her eyes were fixed on the ceiling. The half of her face that could smiled.

This one is excellent -- pure happy. I bet she's down the hall from the old dame in "At the End of the Hall".

Thank you - I wasn't sure if it came out happy or not if I'm being completely honest. I prefer the happy take though!

It's hard not to think of the happy take when you've got At the End of the Hall in your head. Or Delianne Forget's voice.

I get the happy vibe with more re-readings, but I can't seem to shake this strange guilt and regret while reading either. Perhaps bittersweet? There is something strange here...

So I'm going to have to confess ignoramusness to this lady at the end of the hall. Have I unwittingly copied someone else's homework?

Wait, #211, right? I'm Bone Sigh (#134) at the moment, and came in at about From the Lost Diary of TreeFrog7 (#238) so I haven't got there yet. Dammit.

To quote the Asian lady in Jelly Park: "Ooo, so close now!"

This one starts out in a minor key and winds up kinda Do-Re-Mi. I like it.

I know! Queue sense of satisfied indulgent emptiness in 134 episodes' time. Incidentally, the talented Ms Whiteley of Jelly Park fame has a new collection of short stories out, which includes Witchcraft in the Harem. It's really good. so in the time-honoured tradition of altruistic plugs, BUYBUYBUY! Witchcraft in the Harem

You're in for a treat. "At the End of the Hall" is one of my favorite DC episodes ever. The first time I heard it, I relistened to it two more times in 48 hours.

Of course, I'm still working my way through the backlog too. Haven't heard anything between #44 and #176, randomly enough. We'll have to compare "Best-of" lists when we're done. :D
