Imagination Is A Wonderful Thing
Imagination Is A Wonderful Thing
The new psychiatrist enters my cell. I refuse to speak at first, but eventually I tell of the beast that killed my parents so many years ago. It's clear he doesn't believe me.
I describe the blood pooled on the floor, sprayed on the walls. It's a grisly tableau I relive each time I attempt sleep.
Yes, the knife was in my hand when the police found me, but I’d grabbed it for defense against someone I’d once trusted.
The doctor repeats what they’ve all said.
“You killed your parents. The tiger isn’t real. You know that, don't you, Calvin?"

I normally would think this was great, but this is pretty much straight out of a Robot Chicken episode:
I think there might have also been a parody, print cartoon almost exactly the same.

Well crud. I guess I can't get mad that someone stole my idea before I even thought of it, can I?
They even did it way better than I did!

I'd not heard the joke before, so I much enjoyed this one. Just chalk it up to convergent evolution?

I still liked the delivery even if it was featured on a post robot chicken episode.
As for Calvin and Hobbs, do they still run that comic? My wife was a big fan and has a ton of the collections from the 1990s, but I have not seen that comic in a long time. We may all be dating ourselves by referencing a cartoon that has been out of print for 20 years.

My good man, that is like saying we are dating ourselves to speak of last Thursday.
And you say you are old enough that you have a wife?
O, I see you didn't explicitly say that.
You said she used to be a fan.
What denomination practices that?
And what did she become?

If a time traveller dates himself is that homosexual or just temporal masturbation?

Re: Imagination Is A Wonderful Thing
Does anyone else own the giant twenty-pound collector's edition of *all* of the Calvin & Hobbes strips in three massive volumes? (This is on top of my full set of the softback collections, purchased with allowances and after-school job paychecks as they came out.)
Just me, huh?

I do. But my family insists that they're just some old National Geographic issues for some reason. Weird.Scattercat wrote:Does anyone else own the giant twenty-pound collector's edition of *all* of the Calvin & Hobbes strips in three massive volumes?

This is one terrific thread.
Phineas, I think you have a good case for suing Seth Mcfarlane in an temporal court of law.
