Lovecraft (you'll never guess the theme)

Postby munsi » Fri Jul 05, 2013 7:02 am

Each episode, the ship sailed into port, picked up an assortment of celebrity guests, and took off on another romantic voyage.

However, once at sea, things would inevitably go awry. Horribly awry. Lives would be threatened, indeed lost tragically, passengers would be driven mad and, in the end, no matter how they might try to survive, they would each and all be devoured by the eldritch God-Beasts of old.

And as they were consumed, body and soul, the captain would sing his mad, haunted refrain, also used as the program’s theme...

Lovecraft, exciting and new.

Ancient Gods will devour you…

Apropos of nothing, I still have a photo somewhere that I took while lost in Michigan. We found an, ahem, adult novelty/lingerie store.

Called "Lovecraft."

Clearly they were thinking "Like warcraft, but love! The craft of love! It's perfect!"

It did not bring to my mind the image they were probably hoping for.

The Wisest Stone finds himself in an adult novelty store.
Why have we not seen this?

I remember during my pubescent years the D&D adverts in Analog for an "Adult Fantasy Role-Playing Game" and being initially disappointed by the product. But, you know, seredipidity.

Well, he actually didn't need to enter the store to take a photo of the sign, so we may never know for sure.

I had a similar experience with an adult store called "Starship", except I thought it was a bookstore, perhaps specializing in sci-fi or comics or such.

I was right about one thing: there was much that was "speculative" about the wares. Plenty of things that could be described with the words "alien" or "rocket".

I don't know guys. It seems like every other adult anime video has a monster with a lot of tentacles forcing itself on some helpless woman. At least in Japanese culture the line between lovecraft and porn is pretty blurred.

Good drabble. I always thought the love boat was a place of horror. You just brought that horror back to me. Next thing we need is one with the little guy who yelled "The Plane! The Plane!"
