Igor's Revenge

I've recently discovered the Drabblecast and love the weird! This is my first attempt at a Drabble.

Igor pushed the mop slowly around the laboratory. He sighed as the blood and offal sloshed down the drain. His mind drifted back to the sonnet he had been composing.

Oh, what's the use? A Masters in English and here I am, sucked back into the family business, kissing up to that idiot. Master, my ass. Igor had seen better experiments in his tenth grade chemistry lab.

A faint noise caught his attention. He limped over to the tower window and looked down. He smiled as he heard the clank of pitchforks, saw the flickering of torches. Time to pack.

Excellent introductory offer.

It raises such interesting questions: Is this where all English Majors go? I guess Dr. Frankenstein doesn't have to steal bodies from cemeteries any more! Might the people with the pitchforks be the graduate's parents, stuck with big student loans for an Degree preparing them to be Igor?

Is it any different having a degree in Welsh?

I only know one - As I recall, the head conductor on the #62 bus for Jelly Park was Welsh. But come to think of it, he might have been Welch's.

Nice drabble. Hard to beat a good torches-and-pitchforks mob... because there are so many of them, and they have torches and pitchforks.

Welcome and well done first drabble! Loved it.

I found the switch from first-to-third person a little weird though.

Simply a matter of adding quotations to Igor's words, then putting Igor in a new paragraph.

Time to pack doesn't much move me. I'm thinking it would be cool for Igor to feel something of an English major thrill.

I love Igor ruminating on his English classes. But for a second I thought the phrase in quotations after was the sonnet he had been composing. Also, doesn't this mean Igor looses his job? I wonder where he'll work next. Maybe he can finish his Philosophy degree.

Haha! Reminds me of a friend who, instead of saying "There's been a change of plans, so I'll be running late" likes to say, "PLOT TWIST!"
