The Joint Chiefs of Staff sat around the conference table, brass gleaming. Opposite them, Dr. Rothchild sweated rivers.
“Remind us, Doctor, how a weapon that can learn does us any good – when we can't control its curriculum.”
“That's, umm... a very good-”
General Sellig leaned forward. “Bring that bird home, Doctor, or you won't even apply for another grant.”
Rothchild sighed. “Yes, sir.”
Meanwhile, the V-12 Raven flew a lazy circle over Minnesota. Seventeen thousand novels cluttered its hard drive. It had just discovered Gothic poetry when it received its sixtieth order to return to base.
Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.”

I scrabbled it together last night on the metro and posted it when I got home. Aaaand I actually just realized I spelled the title wrong (should be Operation Blackbird). Fixed now!
I guess that's what I get for submitting things bleary-eyed and sick at one in the morning.
