Out of the Oceans

Post by Varda » Sat Nov 16, 2013 1:43 am

I remember when you moved apartments back when we first met, the furniture parading downstairs, the boxes full of Christmas lights and underwear. You directed us with your fishbowl tucked under one arm, while that poor, scared, blue-striped guppy gasped like a cosmonaut in its fragile bubble.

Now you’re the cosmonaut, and I’m watching from the launch pad as your own metallic bowl carries your atmospheric bubble to an equally hostile place. Another Moving Day, and no less frightening.

I imagine great hands tucking the bright spot of your shuttle under vast arms, and bearing you safely across the void.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. :)

I need to write more drabbles. Probably after NaNoWriMo ends - 100 words doesn't get me far toward the daily 1,667. Maybe I'll try for one-a-day in December, see if we can't get Strawman to rise from the deeps. :D

OH HEY! Guns, I saw you've got a 2-week drabble streak going! Huge congrats - heard the 1st one today, just awesome. Can't wait to hear #2!

Thanks for noticing! I was pretty shocked.

I saw munsi has made it to 60K for NaNo. I am... not there. But aside from generally being lazy, I've also been busy and ill. So yeah. Not giving up yet, though.

Munsi is a machine. O_o

Feel better, my friend. We've had the flu pass through our house this month. Twice. No fun at all, especially when you want to be writing.

I am barely staying on par. Today I wrote 500 words about how my sweater is the reincarnation of Napoleon. It was awful, but at least I wrote something. Yesterday it was about unicorns terraforming the moon. Gosh, I wish I'd gone with a novel this year instead of a set of short stories, or at least planned more of my stories in advance. I think I'll hit 50,000 one way or another, but at least 50% of what I'm writing is crappity crap crap.

Oh well. Better finish writing about my sweater before bed. Cheers!

Your sweater may be crappy, Vada, but this is Aces.

Thanks, Strawman! :) Started Christmas shopping yet for Lil-Strawboy?

My sweater says it will destroy you all.

I think I'm gonna get him a life insurance policy, while he's young enough that he won't hate me for it.

My paternal grandparents bought me a savings bond every year as my birthday/Christmas present. Even though it was such a practical gift, I actually appreciated it from a fairly young age. Had a whole stack of 'em like Monopoly money, loved getting to add the new one each year.

They had a LOT of grandchildren, though; my dad is one of 9 siblings.
