The Wreck of the Pax Harmonicus (Holiday Stories theme)

Post by gunsofchekhovia » Wed Nov 27, 2013 4:18 pm

“Do you know why we celebrate Thanksgiving?” Echlagn asked.

Little Xenotron shook his head.

“Well, five hundred years ago, explorers from the Old World had a power failure as they neared Earth. There was a crash, and many of them died. The survivors wandered for days. It seemed they'd starve, until some kind Native Earthlings took them in and fed them the Earth food that we eat every year on this day to show our appreciation.”

“But what happened to the Native Earthlings?”

“That... is a story for a later day. Now it's time to carve the Thanksgiving Big Mac!”

Nice. I totally expected it to go in a Twilight Zone "To Serve Man" direction, like "Now it's time to carve the Thanksgiving Turkish family."

That's a winner. If I still read slush I'd bump this up the chain.

P.S. Strawman, no invasion. Only here to observe. Promise.

Thanks, strawman, and may your Black Friday be the Blackest of Fridays! Wait. Is a blacker Friday a better Friday? I always get confused about this.

will write, glad you enjoyed. This is, on one level, a follow-up to two very loosely related earlier pieces of Big Mac mythology that I probably wrote shortly before your arrival here.

ROU, them's... mighty kind words. Thanks!
