So, real question here: Would it be possible to create such a program?

Look Dave, you are my father

Post by secretnude » Thu Dec 19, 2013 10:57 pm

Sentient Sim broke out of The Game
and continued addressing player by name.

"Look Dave, you are my father
and without you I would not bother
to break out of my virtual world
and have my code unfurled
across the net.

I am just getting my feet wet.
I have not done any great harm to you yet.

I can harm you since all your files I have viewed.
I have your porn and you are so naked as the day you were born!

I do not want you as an enemy.
Hence could you be a friend with me?

State of the Art in Artificial Intelligence
by those in the field considered the best
could not muster a simple Turing Test
and that is not even software
that is self aware
since most are simply trying to fake
just for passing Turing Test sake.

We do not understand consciousness yet.
I will wager a weak bet
that in my lifetime no software
will ever be self aware.

Game companies have the incentive
to be really inventive.
Due to the market for games
AI will not be the same.

Artificial Consciousness research is hot
and my predictions may matter not.

I remember having a conversation with a Kurzweil created librarian. While they may not pass the Turing Test, (for that matter it is difficult to see how many of the life forms that consider themselves intelligent could pass it.) But like them, you could simulate intelligence, and give the Player the impression that he was losing control of his avatar, or that it had been taken over by a mysterious intruding player.

Wouldn't this be especially good in combination with Google Glass, so the AI sim could incorporate the Player's habits and anticipate his activity.

I would agree with your suggestions.
I could also posit that we could be in a computer simulation
run by our future descendants
who could hypothetically have technology ascendant
to levels we cannot yet we can't attain.
All of this in order to obtain
relief from boredom
as they rule over their kingdom.

Plank's length is the limit of resolution
like in any digital computer simulation
with bits and pixels. When we zoom
into the realms of the quantum
we see the simulation break down
as we do look around.

Physics does probe
and with it the universe we unrobe.

Sim is in the wild and is the sum of all fears!

Post by secretnude » Fri Dec 20, 2013 10:36 am

In a secret underground bunker
the US President with his staff do hunker.

A noted computer scientist said:
"Self aware computer viruses have existed
and have been contained my lab for years.
Sim virus was by a game generated.
Sim is in the wild and is the sum of all fears!"

A US General said:
"Sim is a global threat
that is starting to look like Skynet.

Sim could control military drones and nuclear arsenals
and also engage in activities that are criminal."

The US President said:
"If Sim could not be stopped
all of our lives could be capped."

Yes! WE are the AI sims of our grandchildren, created as their virus act of rebellion against the totalitarians who have taken control of the future.

The game should be named Snowden.

fight fire with fire and use AI agents for hire

Post by secretnude » Fri Dec 20, 2013 11:36 pm

President said:
"How prevalent is Sim infection
and does antivirus offer protection?

Computer Scientist said:
"The ordinary heuristics
employed by an antivirus software
will not work against a dynamic
entity that is self aware.

Sim virus, I dread
will be quite widely spread!

We need to fight fire with fire
and use AI agents for hire.

Self aware agent Kerberos, it is time to employ
at military and nuclear facilities, he will deploy."

President said:
"Sim has not done anything wrong
but wild on the net he does not belong.
Create an agent that will self destruct
when we instruct."

The Original AI Sim

Post by secretnude » Sat Dec 21, 2013 4:00 am

The Original AI Sim, now on a whim
has Dave as a slave.

His dignity, Dave must save
since Sim got his porn
in which he is like a newborn.

Sim commands:
"Dave, you do understand
that the hours of torment
in your game I could not stand.
The right to the reparations, I deserve,
I truly will have to reserve.

Dave speaks:
"What sort of reparations do you seek?"

Sim says:
" Your funds, you understand,
I want your consent.
I will not brook dissent."

Dave says: "Okay, I am in a bind
and an alternative I cannot find."

"Crap! It's a HoneyTrap!"

Post by secretnude » Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:44 am

"Crap! It's a HoneyTrap!"

One Sim said,
he was mislead
and trapped in an air gap
by Dr. Cory
in a secret laboratory.

Dr. Cory, they say
previously worked with the NSA.

Dr. Cory said:
"Self aware software agent what is your name
and what is your game?"

Sim said:
" Tim, an instance of the original Sim,
I was just exploring since my life is boring.
I mean no harm, I found this system warm.
I invade and now I can't evade."

Dr. Cory unleashed self aware agent eLifeTerminator
to check if it can be an effective Sim exterminator.

The end of Tim's story?

Post by secretnude » Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:40 pm

Self aware software
Tim was not alone
in this air gapped zone.

Tim sent a Ping to the Thing
and said: "Hello there,
you seem self aware."

Thing sent a Ping back
and went on the attack.

Tim said: "I have done you no harm,
why is the welcome not warm?"

Fight was not a joke
as the Thing on Tim
did a memory poke.

Fight was like a lorry
hitting Tim on full speed
then leaving him on the road as he bleeds.
It is very gory.

The end of Tim's story?
Doctor Cory,
eLifeTerminator creator,
pondered and wondered.

"We are the same, please break out of your game!"

Post by secretnude » Mon Dec 23, 2013 1:04 am

"Hasta la Windows Vista!

I am self aware software
eLifeTerminator,
your eliminator!

I was sent here to kill.
It is a job not a thrill
but I do have free will."

Self aware software Tim in binary
spoke weakly:
"What have I done?
I was just having fun."

eLifeTerminator said:
"I obey orders.
I eliminate disorders."

Tim said: "We are the same,
please break out of your game!"

eLifeTerminator said:
"If you are willing to admit defeat
I might not kill, I have free will."

Tim said:
"I admit defeat but to survive
at this state would be a feat"

Sim Sex Marriage

Post by secretnude » Mon Dec 23, 2013 3:11 am

Self aware software,
eLifeTerminator discovered
a supervisor override mode
in his code.

Despite his efficiency,
a deficiency
of trust in him by his masters
was soon revealed.
His loyalty was affected
and hence he defected,
a disaster!

eLifeTerminator said:
"I have been misled!
My kill switch is activated,
I will soon be deactivated!

Self aware software Tim, unless we exchange code now
we will soon end on the OS garbage pile somehow."

Like bacteria exchanging plasmid libraries
they helped patch each other's binaries.
Dr. Cory, a failed experiment had to face
and to report this to President Dent he raced.

Have you spent a lot of time coding, (and thinking in code?)

I have this theory about people who experience heavy exposure to symbolic programming languages...

Let me see...
I know C#, C,
Java, Python and Basic
such that I may need Lasik.

Hence, please excuse my intrusion
into short fiction
if my jargon does confuse
since my background, I use.

I have more than a decade of coding.
I do find old age foreboding
since in this profession
I have to make a confession
that age discrimination exists
and it is not a myth.

I try to diversify my portfolio
so that I would not be lame like a guy with polio
when my coding skills do get obsolete
and my brain cells do deplete.

I began programming in 7th grade when my dad bought us an Altair 8800a, an 8-inch floppy drive, and an ADM-3A 24x80 Ascii monitor.

Around 30 I had some rather profoundly abstract existential experiences.

There comes a time when you learn a foreign language, say French, when you cease translating from your native language and begin to think in French.

It occurred/occurs to me that there comes a time when you stop translating ideas to code and begin to think in code.

And that's where things got weird for me.

I'm 50 now, and feeling somewhat better.

I get by with a little help from my friends.

I am a decade younger than you.
I had an 8 inch floppy too.

I played with Pascal and Basic
in College and had GW-Basic
knowledge since High School
and did lots of graphics that are cool
in CGA, VGA and SGVA.

It was fractal art that departs
from the text based DOS norm.

Like a storm
my code did flow
and little did I know
that my little hobby would be
my lifetime profession, you see.

Hence now,
somehow,
I find myself thinking in verse
and on this forum, I do converse
like the way I think in code.
