The End of the End (Retired theme)

Post by gunsofchekhovia » Sun Jan 05, 2014 4:51 pm

Gary's life had been simple once. There had been rage and carnage and passion, fighting days and sleeping at night.

Then there was a cure. No more “destroy the brain.” No more shot to the head, just a shot in the arm.

Now, Gary had no use for his spiked baseball bat or the maul he'd made from a section of pipe and a block of concrete. God, he'd loved that thing.

Now, life was back to normal, just as everyone had hoped. Everyone except Gary. Gary had no "dead" left to kill, no respect or admiration, and no paycheck.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this was about zombies, but even before the lightbulb came on, I dug it.

Isn't it funny that no matter how great things are, there's always that one guy who longs for the bad old days?

Strawman, I try. Optimism must be bridled, whatever the cost.

Varda, glad you enjoyed it. Every situation is the perfect situation for someone, isn't it?

This is really good. The fall of a King Conan, wherein Conan is played by an unshaven Willem Dafoe and the kingdom consists of a fortified Wal-Mart Supercenter.

This is truly a great one. And, you picked one of the toughest playing fields imaginable -- who would think something brilliant and original could be done with the dreaded zombie story?

I must admit, this is so good that it makes me jealous ... "wish I could've thought that one up ... "
