Marty’s thick-fingered hand couldn’t type on the keyboard anymore. In fact, it could barely grip the oversized novelty pen he used to jot down notes on a yellow legal pad. The page was full of messages: “Doctor called- Appointment at 9:45”, “Pick Seth up from school, from Dad”, and “Mom says leftovers for dinner.” Marty had written them all as his body grew heavy and square. He longed to put down words other than the messages, but his novel sat untouched, as it had for months now. If he waited much longer, the writer’s block would take all of him.
