Inconvenient return [The Asshole Samaritan]

Post by pondspider » Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:43 pm

He’d left them at her place, he was sure of it. No matter. She’d keep them for him and they’d probably use them next time, anyway.

All the same, he was a little worried, as they were monogrammed and traceable.
They’d been a gift from his wife in the early years of their relationship, when married life was good. They hadn’t been used at home for a long time.

Surely she wouldn’t be foolish enough to return them to his home address.

When he got back from the office they were hanging on the hatstand.

This is awkward, he thought.

Monogrammed Handcuffs? Wouldn't it be better if it were something not everyone had?
Never judge anyone until you have biopsied their brain.

Is that what they were?

As a general rule, pondspider, if you have to explain it, it didn't work. I loved the buildup, but I think you would have gotten more of a punch if you'd actually said what they were. Especially if you can think up something apparently innocent, but still with the capacity to cause trouble at home.
The truth may be out there, but lies are inside your head.

Yep. Strawman got it in one! I guess such things aren't so popular in Tynesdale :)

I decided to leave it open to interpretation, but I like the idea of something innocent. On the other hand, that would kinda negate the Asshole Samaritan aspect.

I'll try another version with the innocent reveal. :)
