'Twas the Night

Post by Suomy Nona » Wed Dec 19, 2018 4:45 am

The dirty child slept on the decaying sofa cushions that she used as a makeshift bed.

The man in the shadows could smell her unwashed and diseased body. He walked to her tattered clothing drying on the hearth above the diminishing fire.

It’s been so long… but it was only an accidental summons.

The children of this new world hadn’t been taught to believe in magic. Their struggle is one of survival and existence.

He stood for a moment remembering a time before civilization ended then dropped an orange into her stocking and disappeared up the chimney into the night.
