Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
It took me forever to get around to making this list, but I finally finished it. I think forcing myself to pick 20 out of 300 episodes is the most masochistic thing I've ever done, and I've read the "Twilight" books. Anyway, you can gawk at my bizarre choices and seriously question my good taste here.

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
One of my favorite things is hearing people's DC top___ lists, because it brings the episodes back to mind. Probably similar to two Victorian=era English gentlemen sitting at their supper club discussing their favorite colonial wars.
"Yes, my mind was there for that one. Sticky wicket, what?"
"Yes, rather."
"No, I really meant 'what?' I didn't hear you."
"Well, now that you mention it, "rather" than what? I've quite forgotten."
Well, maybe it's not quite like that.
In any case, kind of you to include the synopses and comments.
One thing I have learned here is that some favorite episodes, like Annabelle's Alphabet, and Unique Chicken Goes in Reverse didn't immediately grab me, but grew on repeated listens.
It's always fun to go through the annual People's Choice voting for this reason. It would be even more fun if we could have some kind of DC weekend get-together event in which we could sit around a roaring fire making the case for our favorites.
First Annual Drabblecast Caribbean Cruise, anyone?

Roaring fire on a cruise ship? ...Yeah, that sounds about right. It wouldn't be the DC Cruise if we didn't keep it a little weird.strawman wrote:First Annual Drabblecast Caribbean Cruise, anyone?

There are a bunch of episodes I really need to re-listen to. My buddy from Pseudopod took great offense that I didn't include "Let Us Now Praise Awesome Dinosaurs", but for some reason I didn't get into that one on the first listen.
He also said I should've included "Jubilee". I can't disagree there, but I already had 3 Tim Pratt stories.
Hey Strawman, where's your Top ___ list? I think everyone should make one, since we just passed 300 episodes.

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
Don't know if it's still up on Tom's DC site, but it's outdated anyway, since I submitted it at about episode 150. I agree about Jubilee, and would add The Great Clown Hunt, just to add a non-Pratt masterpiece. David Levine is my fave author. Any mind that can produce Charlie the Giraffe and Babel Probe is a true Renaissance Man.

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
Well, now you have a homework assignment! Although considering the time of year, and how hard I found it to make such a list, I'll give you a pass if you don't have time for it.
I need to do my B-sides list next, but I might wait a couple more months. Maybe when the number hits 40 or 50, when a Top 10 list makes more sense. It kills me to leave Connor Choadsworth out of the rankings until then.
Okay, everyone name your top 3 favorite Choadsworth episodes!

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
I think even more than B-sides, what we need is the top 20 intro/outros.
But talk about a Herculean task!

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
That's a really good idea. Maybe it could be done as a community effort. Off the top of my head, I recall:
- Breast Cancer Awareness Month
- The aerosolized pig brains Drabblenews segment
- The Halloween episode where Cryptkeeper Norm gets visited by... err... Luke or Kendall... the Ghosts of Editors Past or such - mainly I remember it for "ghost handjobs"
- The Big Mac rap
- Another "Women and Aliens" month bit that's an extended PMS joke, but with clips of dudes losing their shit spliced in
- The whole episode where Norm's broadcasting from his basement bunker at the end of the world with his cat
- One "serious" outtro I loved was Norm's explanation of Solipsism after "The Electric Ant". It made my brain wrinkle.
What else am I missing?

Re: Varda's Favorite Drabblecast Episodes
I can't even begin... you even missed my favorite in which the Drabblecast survives the Nuclear Holocaust, and becomes the religion and scripture of the cave-dwelling survivors, the foundational ethos of their civilization, until countries divide and go to war over different interpretations of what Norm required, and repeated the cycle once more.Varda wrote:What else am I missing?
I rate that one right up there with Connor Choadsworth.
Now that I think of it, that also qualifies Norm as an official heretic who only 400 years ago would have probably been burned at the stake.
There was also the news item about the duck incident in the hotel lobby.
Okay, brilliant idea here:
Assemble the top 20 (by the usual massive DC voter fraud) and make them available on B-Sides as "Best of Norm"!
Now wouldn't THAT feed a lot of little hungry octopods?

Uh oh, Strawman. Looks like the people who hacked Norm's Twitter account last night got to you.
Or maybe, YOU are the hacker!
Anyway, I shall start a thread.
