Alternate History and Time Travel stories

Postby Castor Pollux » Wed Mar 11, 2015 5:24 am

Hello, I've been a fan of the Drabblecast for quite a bit now, and this is my first time in the forum.

I've been promoting some of my favorite podcast over at the Alternate History Weekly Update in my column known as The Audio File, and I figured I'd cover the Drabblecast soon. I've covered Escape Pod, PodCastle and I've got a forthcoming artcile on Pseudopod.

As the name suggests, I am looking for alternate history stories, but we have a pretty broad definition of alternate history including time travel, historal fantasy and all the historical punks. I've already found some stories, perhaps even enough for the article, but I found most of them by chance. I wouldn't want to exclude any great stories, and I want to do my best to represent the Drabblecast, so I was hoping that you guys could help me out and point me towards any stories that might match the criteria.

Any help I can get would be great, so don't be afraid to speak up

Welcome aboard, Castor Pollux!

The Drabblecast podcast has had at least a dozen stories, drabbles, and twabbles that feature time-travel.

Off the top of my head, in 30 seconds, 2 of my favorites are:
  • Drabblecast 109 - "Babel Probe"
  • Drabblecast 150 - "Morris and the Machine"

There are also scores of mostly good drabbles and twabbles, with time travel, that didn't make the podcast. You can find these here in the forum.

Thanks, Algernon.

Yes, Babel Probe is definitely on the list. As for the Drabbled and Twabbles, for this article I'm mostly focusing on feature stories. My hope is readers will come for these stories, but stay for all the other great stories here on the Drabblecast

Some other episodes I was considering for the list include:

Now Let Us Praise Awesome Dinosaurs

Golden Age of the Fire Escape

Hero: The Movie

The modern day Joan of Arc story

The Ugly Chickens

Night of the Cooters

The Last Great Clown Hunt

The one about squids being used by the military in the 80s

The Cold Equations

In the Age of the Pneumatic Tubes

Once a Month on Sunday

Well, it's officially up and here is the link http://alternatehistoryweeklyupdate.blo ... ecast.html

I'd like to thank everyone who had discussion on this forum, the writers for writing the stories, and of course the production team behind the podcast itself. Thank you all for all you've done. I hope many new fans come to The Drabblecast and that I represented it well

Oh it's not my blog, I'm just a frequent guest contributor, but yes he did. So did a few of the authors I featured. Always nice when the people who make the podcasts I feature take note.

Say, does anyone know how to spell the name of the narrator from Once a Month on Sunday? I wasn't sure, so I cut that story, but I am going to eventually make an article about stories I missed from various podcasts. So if someone knows I'll be sure to add that story to the list
