The Non-Drabble CD

Postby admiralsunshine » Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:33 pm

Not only am I a huge fan of the stuff on this album, I also wanted a relevant place to tell this story.

For my final project in the music class I just finished, I wanted to do one of Norm's song and spread the weird. The stipulations of the project were: Song under 5 minutes, no foul language. I didn't realize how much of Norm's stuff is either long or has some language. Anyway, I settled on "Asian Baby" since all of the stuff on The Esoteric Order of Sherman wouldn't really be understood by people unfamiliar with The Drabblecast.

So anyway, I do the project and everyone loved it, needless to say. And afterwards, the teacher starts getting on to me because the song says... I'll try not to make you sailors blush....

NIPPLE

The youngest person in that class (me) is 18! This is an adult class! It's not even in reference to female nipples! Australia wouldn't censor that shiz!

As my step-dad said, "Nipple isn't even a bad word. It's just a funny one."

If it wasn't for the "Pansy-ass liberal" line, I would've done Everybody's Got Nipples. Dude probably would've kicked me out

That is awesome! Not only that, nipple is used in a completely non-sexual meaning!

Good job spreading the weird, buddy.

Nipple - the new N word.

I usually introduce folks to Norm via Heartache Over Innsmouth. It's perhaps his most weird, yet the least outright dirty, by the paradoxical Saxon standards of filth that permeate american culture. Gross, not profane. But long by your requirements there, at just under 6 minutes.

Yea, but Heartache doesn't make much sense unless you know Lovecraft.
From the old CD, I'd introduce people to Daddy Drink Because you Cry.

I seriously considered that one, but I thought it might've been too short and I don't know the people in the class that well; I'd hate to awaken long-buried emotions. And given the instructor's reaction to the word "nipple" I think I made the right choice there, haha

Well I ended up with a "C" in the class, because apparently "nipple" warrants a 50% on the final exam. Oh well, water under the brigde, and I still have a decent GPA
