True Apocalypse
They survived by living off the land. They raised chickens, grew their hair long, and protected the levee.

He looked down at the hole in his chest. It didn't matter, he'd won, he hadn't expected to survive.

Welcome aboard, Gisleburt!
Possible fix:
Cory looked down at the hole in his chest. It didn't matter; he'd won. He hadn't expected to survive; it was a damn big zit.

Unfortunately, there's a hole in this twabble -- it's too short.Gisleburt wrote:He looked down at the hole in his chest. It didn't matter, he'd won, he hadn't expected to survive.

Ah RTFM!
How about:
He looked down at the growing red stain. Didn't matter, he'd won, he didn't need to survive. The fireball washed it away.
I know, not humorous, which seems to be the trend. I was aiming for triggering imagination on what the character had done. Perhaps the fireball gives away too much of what was in my mind rather than leaving it to interpretation. Oh well, it's just a first attempt.

Several non-humorous twabbles have "won the contest". The only thing a twabble has to do is tickle Norm's fancy. (But make your Checks payable to ASiD.)

The deformed character string wept softly. Aspiring to be accepted as a twabble, it resolved to amputate an e with a knif

My muscles ache.
My thoughts, muddled.
Every movement is agony.
Thick brown liquid fill my mouth.
Giver of life.

Loving Fear
Fear held him in a lovers embrace.
"I don't think I can trust you," he said.
"Don't worry," she said. "Nothing will be ok."

Is this the result of "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with"? Still, it's not easy to imagine "Nothing will be ok" as a sweet nothing.JoshPeters wrote:Fear held him in a lovers embrace.

Well, when your first choice doesn't work out, accepting suffering becomes an option.

Mom yelled, "Draxyn! Turn that silly game off!"
"It's not a game!" he griped.
He hit the power, and so our universe ended.

The dolphin adjusted his hat and coat, watching the yellow busses hungrily. School was out; it was time to catch dinner.
Thanks so much! I've been on a microfiction bender since listening to three Drabblecasts in a row on a car trip.tbaker2500 wrote: Ha! Awesome.
