I really can’t explain why we stopped cooperating. You could only rely on yourself. It just became a dog-eat-dog world.

Nope. It's not "one" at all. Length Nazi reports that it's way too short to be a Twabble -- which is exactly 100 characters, not counting spaces.

This is a great story start or mystery setup. Alas, it does not feel complete to me. Probably make part of a good drabble, though.
