The cage is the one place it won't go. She sleeps there in its stale smells. Waiting for the return of morning and silence.

If the truth were known, would knowing it make a difference?
What if it were difficult?
I would change it; make it easier.

Once more, I kiss my baby son goodnight.
Once more, he looks up at me in wonder.
Returning to the grave I pray, "Once more."

Wetness.

How had it come to this?
"No side effects", the doctor had said.

I awoke to a loud gurgling noise from the wardrobe.
Then came the roaring and an icy scream...
Narnia was flooding again.

Samantha wiggled her nose and Darren was decapitated before an astounded studio audience.
Later the show got axed too.

After the funeral I sit and cry.
My little boy appears, asking why I'm upset.
I look away and answer, "Because I miss you."

To celibrate my 100th post I thought I'd share an epitaph that I saw on a gravestone as a kid. It resonated with the teenage-me so much I have never forgotten it, so I've clumsily cobbled it into a Twabble... here goes.

An Epitaph
Remember as you pass me by
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now you soon will be,
Prepare yourself to follow me.

Cheery aint it! :)

But as my boy jabs ghostly claws into my kidneys, he snarls, "But you didn't miss me with that cricket bat; did you Daddy?"
