Gigantic wombat on steroids? More like Whompbat, I'd say.

The worst part of giant wombats on steroids is that they put an asterisk on the records and accomplishments of regular giant wombats.

These would have been around at the same time as the 11 foot, carniverous kangaroos:

A cache of bizarre animal fossils unearthed in Australia includes killer kangaroos, marsupial lions, and a giant relative of a huge bird nicknamed the "demon duck of doom," scientists say.
Pre-historical Australia was bad-ass.

The best part of this article is the casual toss-off in the last paragraph.
It is home to an array of prehistoric treasures, including the remains of a tree-dwelling crocodile, a carnivorous rat kangaroo and a marsupial lion.
Dude! Tree-dwelling crocodiles? Carnivorous rat kangaroo? I have to go look those up... And then put them in a story.

I'm fine, Rou. I'm back in Portland area for a few months - doing locums at Good Sam.

I'll be back in Portland shortly, too. If they get this bird off the tarmac. Louisville was miserably hot and humid.
