Linky.

I have to admit to being a little dissapointed. For a moment after reading the headling my mind was filled with images of airborn butter monsters.

Well of course it would be mutant butter. Normal butter cannot even walk.

Ironically, they did not show that the radiation release caused the mutations.

Turns out that the pesticide used to control the flies and mosquitoes, after the tsunami, caused the unnatural mutations1.

1 Some mutations are natural and common among insects. Fact-checked by CNN, NBC, ABC, and Harry Reid. That's a statement...

How mutated, and are their disturbing pictures? I'm very curious and want to follow the link, but have a long-time and abiding horror of pictures of mutated things...

On the linked page, the picture is very tame, and you can't even tell that there are mutations. It's pretty dry, actually.

The big story is that the mutation rate is alleged to increase with each generation after the exposed parent generation. That is, the changes are at least somewhat heritable.

This should come as no surprise to anyone who saw a few episodes of Dr Phil, TMZ, etc.

As I study myself in the mirror, I wonder: when and how did that radiation exposure happen? At the dentist? Or was it previous generation?

Reminds me of an episode of the 1960's TV show The Invaders ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061265/ ) when the main character sneak into a lab and sees a container of meat-eating butterflies.

Yeh, not a sexy story. Someday we'll get the mutants we deserve. Until then, here is the bear from Prophecy
