It is 381miles from LA to San Francisco. If the tube accelerated you to 4000 mph on this trip, and immediately started to decelerate for arrival, and did so at a constant rate, what would the rate of acceleration be? It says it would take the same amount of time as a sitcom.

High-speed rail has been in the works for LA to Vegas, and for LA to Frisco for 50 years. It was just about ready for serious effort when the Nature-Nazis usurped California. Result: No trains, 30+ year stalls per made-up species, and California cities have the worst traffic in the World (depending on who is measuring & when, but always top 10).

This is just a scheme for Elon Musk, and pals, to get more 100's of millions of stolen tax dollars (plus "writeoff money" from Left-coast idiots with more cash than sense).

Mind you, even 1960's-era Japanese "bullet" trains would be economically good in some spots. That's a big part of the reason that they will never be built in states like CA and CO.

Similar story in Australia. Meanhwile the airspace between Melbourne and Sydney remains one of the busiest in the world, and that and the cars spew hundreds of metric tonnes of C02 into the atmosphere each day when a rail link would benefits everyone.... but the airlines, who just happen to be very good friends with both major political parties.

Meanwhile, France had highspeed rail in the 60s. When Australia finally gets it we can legitimately claim to be at a level with 1960s France.

I'd much prefer these travel tubes though. Especially if they could get them they are in Futurama.

So it's lose-lose. I feel ya, Bro. :(
(It's also why I prefer the Japanese example.)

When did the U.S. relationship with France sour?I mean one day they are giving us statues and getting Ben Franklin laid, the next thing you know it's Freedom Fries. #toolazytomakeitatwabble

I want to go on record as officially not giving a rats ass about the answer to my question. I just wanted to make a joke about Ben Franklin getting laid. #apologiesforthevisual
