Next Time

Post by Kevin Anderson » Sat May 03, 2008 12:12 am

I thought that the drabblecast awards were a lot of fun this year and the listeners really chose the best episode.

My suggestion is that for next year's award / awards that there should be more categories. There should always be best overall story / episode, but how about most thought provoking story, or best mixed genre or at the very least most gross. (We already have a half dozen contenders this year for that one)

And what about BEST DRABBLE - after all this is the drabblecast.

other category ideas;
editors choice award
most erotic
most offensive
favorite character
Best story that did NOT involve something coming out of anyone's bum.

Anyway, just a thought.

To be fair, some of DC's best stories, including the year one third place (and one of my all-time favorites), are about things going IN...
...the pagoda-like enclosure, where Japanese sand-badgers disported themselves...

Yeah, for the sake of efficiency, the awards would probably have to be on a per-orifice basis. Otherwise we could end up with 157 different categories.

Tweedy, I'd like to see your calculations. The fact that you've counted them puts you in the running for the 'Best Drabble News' gong.

Anyway, that's still too many categories, and we have to allow for the fact that some stories may involve creatures contriving their their own points of entry to the human body --- the Sizzle and the Tehtix(?) come to mind.
I'd refine it further into 'Most Novel Use of Orifices' and 'Strangest Use of Bodily Fluids/Excreta.'

Now that I think about it, my youngest daughter could have won both categories five or six years ago. So close to Drabble glory...

So I'm good at math and gastronomy. Is that so strange?

You know, I was going to say something along those lines, but everything I came up with was rather tasteless.

You'd think I'd have learned by now...

I'd say yes. It might be the best overall single sound effect I've heard on DC.

That was a good one. I thought the sound effect in Sizzle when the alien came out of the ol' hillbilly's head was another good one.

Absolutely. Technically, a cat splat.
