Dude, what is that? Windows 98? Get a real computer!

---------------------

Yes, as probably everyone has already figured out, The Drabblecast is down due to Apple screwing themselves and their customers with some very poorly considered "updates" to their web servers. As Norm tells it, in their zeal to make sure their network was ready for the new iPhone, they made it not ready for everything else.

You suck, Apple!
(Well, really, you could just say they're having a Microsoft moment, but still)
You suck, Apple!

Hopefully Apple will get their collective head extricated from their collective rear in short order and weekly weirdness will be back to being weekly again. For now, however...

I trust Norm will keep us updated...

I expect his updates will include some rather nasty cursing of Apple, so keep your $*&@ filters on, people!

If I were Norm, I'd put in a call to Bill Gates and see if MS wants to host the Drabblecast, and do a kick-ass tv commercial where the Apple guy gets entered in the super animal death match competition, with time-lapse wasp larva injection.

Yes... Norm and I put in over 5 hours last night on it. We have some workaround that will take time, but should get the site back up. When he gets back from work we're giving it another go.

I have two things to say:
1. Apple really messed up on this upgrade.
2. These screwups are still less than I have seen on any "pro" hosting service I've seen for the money.

So as much as I want to bitch about them, I can't really. They're just no better than the competition on this one. :-(

itunes

Postby guitardel » Wed Jul 30, 2008 1:57 pm

Do you think you will be able to get the itunes link running again in the near future? I can get the latest story through google, but not other podcasters it seems. I'm lazy--I generally use itunes. Thanks.

Ok peoples, here's the gig:

Norm got the Feed back up and running, but in all likelyhood you'll need to resubscribe from drabblecast.org .

If you feed currently reads "my podcast", it's looking for a location which doesn't exist and can't exist as things are set up. I'll look into things more.

However, just simply resubscribe and you're good to go!

Nix that. I have done a hack. Sorry Norm, it's a hack! Ugly but effective.

For a day or so, Norm will tell me how long, when you go to www.drabblecast.org you will get the RSS feed. Just click on "The Drabblecast" at the top to get to the main page.

This is the only way to get iTunes to straighten itself out. We'll put www.drabblecast.org back to the main page when everybodies client has had a chance to update itself.

Oh, yeah, I forgot Windows XP can be skinned with that "classic" look.

I haven't used Windows in... Hmm...

works for me

Postby StalinSays » Thu Jul 31, 2008 1:01 am

Drabblecast is back on my itunes list, and is refreshing (hello episode 74). Visiting the description page inside itunes, it looked as jacked up as the rest of the set-up earlier this week, lorem ipsum text and all. Better now.

Black and White Animals is still a man down. All considered, there is a pleasant picture of people holding hands in front of a sunset now. It's soothing in a way militant penguins could never be.

Podcast for Mega-Beasts is working like a charm, having also seen setbacks in the early part of the week. Breath those collective sighs of relief.

Blasted Europeans, always complaining about their rights and their claim to awesomeness.

Oh wait, that's the Americans. Sorry zZzacha, I'll leave you to it.

I've got an hour of Thursday left, and I still ain't got no drabbly awesomeness comin' down the intertubes.

Just one hour left... What can we do? What can we do?!!?
