Accents?

Postby rosaphillia » Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:40 pm

Norm is mostly a GREAT reader and presenter - but his various attempts at "British" accents are missing the target! Well. they are missing the target for me.
This week's Drabble News (about the randy Welsh Guinea Pig) was a case in point. The Welsh accent is very distinctive (to a Brit at least!) and the item would have really been set off well by a touch of speech with some stereotypical Welsh characteristics. Unfortunately, Norm produced an accent that meandered from London to California via Nova Scotia - managing to miss Wales altogether!

I would almost certainly make a complete hash-up of trying to sound American so this comment is ungracious. But honestly - it's honest.

I wonder how Norm's voices sound to American and other non-Brit listeners?

Ooo yah the Welsh bit is hard to do. That's why I subcontracted that job out to Dermot Glennon for Codebrown.
