Stories for a New Drabblecaster

Postby delfedd » Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:44 pm

My good friend is coming down to visit me from his college. I recently convinced him to listen to drabblecast, and am trying to compile a list of the "Craziest of drabblecast" for his eight hour ride. The goal is to make him think, and maybe freak him out a little.

What I have so far

The Relativity Prison
It's All in the Knowing
All the Trifectas
Sarah's window
Babel Probe
Jelly Park
The Beekeepers.

It's been a while since I went through every single one of the drabblecasts. Which other ones Should I include?

The Black and White Animals Trilogy, certainly. Perhaps Gifting Bliss and Synesthesia as well. Definitely Sleep Age. Time Shift, maybe?

Those are some of my favorites, anyway.

Clown Eggs. That one was like a bottle of Drabblecast extract.

And don't forget Charlie the Giraffe was Acting Strange, Sing, and Circes, Malish, and Pumpkinseeds (as much for the Mongo bitch slap as anything).

Add The guilt Trader and The Storyteller.

I recently delved into the archives and enjoyed Sredni Vashtar.

The Pie stories of course (DC105) and you need a story with worms in it (DC025). You cannot talk about DC without worms, squidges or other wiggly things.

Out of His League (DC103) is awesome and of course Charlie the Purple Giraffe (DC113), but strawman already said that one. I just wanted to say it again.
I'll be there in 5 minutes. If not, read this again.

Yeah.

You know, when you have a show where fully 50% of the episodes could be described as "awesome" or "amazing", you're probably safe just turning a new listener loose. A more useful question might be "Which episodes should a new listener avoid?" That list would be much smaller and more manageable. If you ask "Which episodes rock?" you're going to get a list as long as your arm.

I still think "Morton" is one of the best stories that has been on here. Best (worst) twist ending ever. Have someone listen to that, and they'll never forget it. It's just so very, very wrong.

I agree wholeheartedly, and I just wonder... DC has come such a long way in terms of production quality, I'd love to see a reissue of selected classics like Morton and The One That Got Away. Not that I want to replace a new story, but maybe as a B-side?
