MB3 - R1 - Skirmish (Discussion)

Post by StalinSays » Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:43 pm

Official voting is set to begin on the last day of September (Wednesday the 30th) at Mega-Beasts.com. And will conclude Sunday October 11th, just before midnight, pacific time. All rounds after that will be the usual two weeks, stretching Sunday to bloody Sunday. Expect another audio only discussion of the Skirmish round to compliment the video podcast Norm posted.

Voting has been tweaked for the third season. To help bolster the totals of secondary favorites, users will rank the Beasts rather than simply select one mega-favorite. It will still be anonymous, still daily, still prone to last minute swings that will launch elaborate conspiracy theories. But differenty.'

Formal introductions of the Mega-Beasts will come alongside the launch of voting. You should already have gotten a taste in the video podcast - the list remains the same with one exception (Rock Lobster out, Unicorpse in). I will repost all the Beast information from the site in text form on this topic so you guys have quick reference.

I'm going to be the annoying twit who points out that mega-beasts.com ain't displaying nuttin 'cept placeholders. Probably because you are hard at work on it, uploading new content, etc.

Oh nice timeline- 2 out of 3 people will be disappointed on xmas because their beast didn't win!

Or another way of looking at it, is 1 beast will be well fed for xmas.

If there's going to be a surprise contestant, I nominate the Bearsharktopus.

Woohoo. While I'm sad the battle brackets are in three-packs as opposed to four, starting with 18 competitors for the skirmish = more blood overall. I like it.

I love Velasquez. The thing I'm worried about, see, is both in B&W animals and in Aliens, he/she dies. Not a good track record.

Ok folks, we are live. Get your vote on.

The one bit I'm missing is the stats, and I'm on top of that for today.

Enjoy!

Stalin, the site and the pics look great! But I am going to wait for the stats before placing my votes, since I must be fully informed.

Well you get every 24 hours, so vote blind today, then informed tomorrow. Like they say in Chicago: vote early, vote often.

Just voted, thanks for doing it Bo.
How are the points distributed? Does #1 get 18 points, #2 get 17 points, etc?

Yep, its reverse order (rank 1 is 18, rank 18 is 1). I figured it was a nice way to keep strong second placers in the game. The Sharkitraz solution.

If only I could e-mail 'I voted' stickers. Alas, you'd all try and peel them off the monitor and just scratch it all to hell.

I have a confirmed pocket of yipping dog voters. And Norm identifies Velasquez, Solar Bear and Lionic as confirmed favorites from the Dragoncon show floor. Yet Unicorpse looks strong in early voting. It'll be an interesting fight for the top 9 surviving slots.

I begin spamming this to all my friends tomorrow (when I finish the stats). We'll see how things evolve once the yeoman voters start coming in.

I love any competition where I can vote from the bath tub. I just voted! Also, I'm squeaky clean.

Bo, you did amazing art work on these beasts! I haven't read the infos yet, I thought this first day I'll only vote on what my eyes like. They like many a beasts!

And tomorrow I can vote again?! Wow, just imagine how clean I'll be when the competition is over
I'll be there in 5 minutes. If not, read this again.
