Honestly, my votes for Velasquez are predominantly influenced by the cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He has that hard-bitten "I'm too damn stubborn to die" look that is just awesomely ridiculous on a penguin. I don't know how well he'd really do, but I want him to win. It would just be right.

Velasquez can do quick belly slides down blood slicks. As long as the plasma is gushing he's still rushing.

When I calculated the range/projectile stat on Terrorpin I was exclusively thinking of his water blasts, which are more a 'get out of my face' than an offensive strategy. Curling in to the shell and firing himself like a cannonball, his range would have to jump to 8.

Don't forget alongside his legion of flies Beelzebounce can hurl hellfire. Now it does burn his little 'roo handsies, so Belfolack would use it sparingly, but think of it used against Venus Die Trap, Maimcock, or Unicorpse!? TKO unless they get smart quick. 'Bounce also has some of the most balanced stats in the competition. There is something to be said for being the great averager - think about Mario in any Nintendo sports game.

If we want to talk about confounding variables between hands and keyboard, Beelzebounce is the first option available in the voting set. Maybe people are just lazy with their clicks?

I don't want to start another years worth of conspiracy theories, but I'm voting Unicorpse pretty highly. So there's one person.

Thugg is now falling like a piece of space debris. I'm with Jimmy Carter - you guys are racist.

Yup, I like Unicorpse. Unicorn are badass, and a zombifed unicorn > regular unicorn. That's maths right there.

I also suspect that with 18 candidates, people tend to gloss over the details of those less interesting to them. I know I'm voting Velasquez, Terrorpin, 14 random, the Beelzebounce and Yipping Dog. So I bet that's why Terrorpin and Slugfest are loosing out, lack of exposure?

I'd venture that the artwork means more to the average voter than do the stats. Kinda like real elections, really.

In exit polls, Beast voters noted Terrorpin is the candidate they're most likely to share a beer with.

Ah, Sluggy and Terrorpin are still near the bottom, though doing a little better. Death to Gelfling.

All things considered, it's actually a close race.
Hey Bo, have you considered putting a link to the megabeast 3 youtube videos up there? For the casual people who don't want to subscribe.

One day left people! Are we really gonna let Terrorpin just miss the cut at 10th place??
Projectiles play a huge part in this season's deathmatch, and he's easily the most dangerous projectile himself-- a huge, nigh indestructible rocket powered cannonball with razor blade fins that could take out the competition by the legs, old-school chariot style.
Solar Bear, Maimcock and Beelzebounce are way weaker but higher ranked contestants.
Chant with me now!

Skirmish Round is almost done!
Terrorpin at Number One!

As did I, yet again. Sluggy and Terrorpin are my two faves at the moment. Other competitors I like are Gargantula, Lionic and Shockodile.

That's a carbon copy of my favorite lineup at the moment. Although I have emotional connections to Venus Die trap and Octdolphig as well.

I'm pulling hard for Gargantula as well. He is still striking distance - those last two or three spots in the order are real soft. My three browser, three votes hammer got Terrorpin back above the cut - but at what cost?!

I'm thinking of extending the vote until Wednesday, make Skirmish a full two weeks at the expense of round 2 (Seed 3 vs. Seed 4 vs. Seed 7, presently Lionic vs. Unicorpse vs. Terrorpin). After all, this is many of the beasts' last shot. Someone give me a yay (or nay) on that, and we'll make it happen.

Oh don't tell me we're doing the multiple browser thing again... I have to reinstall all those..
I don't see much need to extend it, but hey, Velasquez and Terrorpin are in, so I don't care.

Buys me a couple days to draw new art for the 3 semi-finalists. I wasn't gonna, but the spirit took me.

The browser thing has been on since we flipped the switch. We can't really screen against it, unless we want one vote per location, and that screws up anyone in a campus lab or what not.

Yay, I'd love to vote a few more days! The voting form is very well done, I want to add.

Beelzebounce, Beelzebounce, Beelzebounce! I love that name, so Beelzebounce gets my #1 vote every time.

I vote 100% emotionally: I go for nice names and nice pics and try to avoid creepy animals such as spiders. My ratio has nothing to do with this. It hardly ever does, so why should it start now?

Due to a frenzy of voting activity, a window that lets us record a podcast, and time for me to do some snazzy new round 2 art, we're extending Skirmish voting until tomorrow night (Tuesday the 13th) at the stroke of Midnight, Pacific. This time it closes for reals, I promise. As of this moment, rankings look like this:
