Taking some time off so Bo can draw a mutant crocodile ( muwahahaha  ). Get ready for the finals, starting next week. Till then, talk amongst yourselves.

This seems too serendipitous to be ignored. BoarCroc? Any takers?

I was pestering some friends on AIM and got:

Gatorwatt
Nuclear Genegator
Gatorage
Alictricute
Alitazer
Thunder Lizard
Electile

I'm leaning towards Gatorage. With Yo'Mama'Dile as a close second.

You do realize that crocs and gators are in different family branches? This is like a dolphin changing into a whale. There's also the fact that Gatorage is evocative of a sports drink. If you're dead set on blurring genetic distinctions, I suggest you at least capitalize the R.

I have Gatorage in a sketchbook - it's got tentacles, opposable thumbs, a hairy mane, and a cute little monkey nose; the genetics are already quite blurred. I see your dolphin/whale point, and was cognizant of it as I brainstormed with people, but simply put: puns takes precedence.

Lucifoul was an owl, not fowl. Suffer the biologists. Also Squid Marx last year was a groaner and related to something completely removed from squids, as sports drinks are from crocs, purely for the sake of memorability. Trust me when I say a catchy name does wonders for beasts chances. Ask Evisceraptor. Ain't no call-ins for tongue twisters.

Oh, and to Tom's query in the R4 topic - we bent the rules and kept Velasquez cute. You'll see.

Ya, I was gonna say that Steve Irwin must be spinning in his grave over that non-scientific morphing.

I thought the mega-beast competition was grounded in hard scientific fact. Uh, wait. Nevermind. Forget I said that.

(On a non-related note, I can't tell you just how furiously pissed off one of my sons was when we explained to him that drinking Gatoraid would not, in fact, cause him to sweat purple... "That's false-advertising!!!")

You know, until you said that I didn't even SEE that pun in there. GatorAge? GaTorage? I don't get it.

GatoRage is much better than GatorAge, by the way. Good call.

I'm on pins & needles waiting to see the full creatures & stats next week! (Which probably says something about my social life.)

Bring on the pain...guin!

When I do the card I'll design it such that the R humps up. I still dislike typing it as GatoRage - reminds me too much of KoRn. Gatorage doesn't have the molestation issues befitting such a similarity.

Nah, you haven't missed anything other than our planning - I was debuting the anagram on the card, but here:

I can't stop laughing right now. I had a flash, a vision, of what this conversation, this competition, looks like to an outsider. a Normal person, so to speak. It's flipping hilarious how much brainpower goes into this. We must look like such nerds, but I can't be prouder to be a part of it.

That's a stroke of genius. Or maybe just a stroke. Anyways, I love it!
But...can it beat up a berserking electro croc and a nuclear devil kitty? We'll see.

We'll see.

Also, if you capitalize the R in Gatorage. It looks more like Gato Rage, which is in fact the word Gato in spanish mean Cat. So all i can think of when i see GatoRage is what happens when my kitty gets really pissed off. Crazy eyes, crazy ears and the death trap on my hand so he can continue kicking with his back legs like he is a bunny.
