I'm wondering if it isn't time to evolve the competition section a bit. Debates are good, but somewhat uninspiring in the context of the DC. What about bringing more storytelling into it? Maybe the round ends with a story of how the round went?

I volunteer to write said stories. A thousand dollars a piece and they shall be yours.

Hm
I was actually dabbling in 'round retelling' fan fiction last year, but then I thought it a bit obsessive for me with all the balls already had in the air. I am all for it, and if one of you guys jot down even the most flippant of paragraphs, I will make sure it ends up on the site.
I'm inspired by Dr. Sabotage! 's submissions - I think all of the competitors need at origin stories. Weird ones. That is an inalienable right for these poor beasts, born to die. An origin, and a silly name.
Oh, and PS, almost done with the Skirmish round competitors, final tweaks being made to the voting mechanism, art is getting computerized. I picked up a freelance client, and for the moment its limiting my beast time.

y'know
Working on 'an exhibition round' based on forum chatter, with voting confined to the forums. I really want to debut it this week, hopefully I can. It's concepted and drawn, I'm just working with the PC to 'make it pretty.'
The real competition of MB3 (starting with "Skirmish") will begin by best projections in the early part of September. That will be 20 candidates, those who go on to the big show will be less than half, it's sort of like a heat in racing, sort of like that big montage where they all parade around in a beauty contest, pre-swimsuit competition. Where Ms. Rhode Island really looks like she still has a chance. Continue to wait on my buddy to finish up the enhanced voting mechanism, which is close to done, but free always comes at the price of speed. (The aforementioned exhibition round, while cool, is essentially stalling). You will see your carpet sharkers, rat dissolvers, and urethra raiders then.
Shoulda' waited a half tick before firing the opening gun with the logo, but I was riled up about that teaser image.

Little-known facts about Little Rhody:
Someone needs to tell them what an island is.
They claim they were founded by Roger Williams, but see http://www.mrpianotoday.com/news.html ... I somehow doubt it.
First state to declare independence from Britain, figuring they wouldn't be missed.
Last state to ratify the constitution... had to have it translated into Portugese first.
Main reason for being: Buffer between Connecticut and Barney Frank.
Residence of H.P. Lovecraft

Sell it as "Twilight Zone" hosted by a young, hip, guitar-picking version of Rod Serling...

Hey SS, I'll jot you up an origin story for any number of the competitors you'd like. Just get me their art in advance @ jonathancg@gmail.com and I'll churn away.
Probably no more than a few paragraphs, tops, per competitor. Call it my free contribution to the violence

Cool.
Cool, thanks. I'll scan a couple of the partials out of my sketchbook this weekend. I have notes for some, not others.
