Listener/Forums Mega-Beast Suggestions

While community feedback has always played a part in the crafting of Mega-Beast competitors, this year we were looking to draw ink directly from the well. A season 4 round we will feature 3 beasts taken directly from your suggestions, look, powers n' all. So yeah peoples, let's hear what you got, scan the provisions set out here and post below.

A few provisions:

Please base your beasts on an actual animal that exists in nature. Or creatures with a common enough point of reference they might as well exist, e.g. sasquatches, unicorns, chupacrabras, dodo birds, etc.

While 'humanoids' are ok, ideas that emphasis a bestial, savage quality are more in with MBDM standards.

Ridiculous creatures welcome. Sure, a ferret couldn't defeat a gorilla straight-up, but a ferret of living plasma would have a puncher's chance.

Freshness of ideas is highly desired. So retreads of animals used in years past (crocodiles, lions, elephants, squid, etc) are discouraged. The same goes for specific sets of powers (teleporting, liquid nitrogen blood, mastery of shadows, regenerating horns, etc). I know we at the Drabblecast have covered a lot of ground with beasts of the past, so some overlap is acceptable, but if you're gonna' try another rhino (for example), it better have a unique spin to it.

In general keep power level on par with mega-beasts that have existed in the past. We want parody across seasons, for crossovers, and to keep a rich history alive so to draw comparisons, like pro baseball. So no beasts that resemble the 'wish you in to the cornfield' kid from the Twilight Zone who just blink their opponents out of existence.

Your renderings are welcome (I'd love to see em'), but all beasts will pass through the Bo Kaier prism before going to vote in the actual round.

Oh and no pornographic, racially insensitive, or whatever the crap else bad stuff you get warned against in these types of scenarios that common sense generally covers.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Final selections will be made by Norm, the editors, and myself. Be warned before you submit - If we select your idea it may well appear in to some other future form of publishing. So yeh, if this is your baby, keep it pressed to your bosom. You will be given credit, always, but in general beasts drafted should be considered forfeit - surrendered to that nebulous world of creative commonality.

Well, the one that comes instantly to mind is duckasouraus. He is a -duck-. So naturally he tries to rape anything in his path with an exploding 40 foot penis.

Oh, wait, you said nothing pornographic. Give me a minute; I'll think of something less realistic.

Yeah, as much as I love pedobear, he isn't someone we're going to bat with. Also it's hard to make up things that already exist.

The Armor-dillo, who not only has titanium-steel plates, but also an internal force-field generator able to create invisible but solid barriers up to thirty feet away?

But gets killed easily by a car. Asphalt is his Kryptonite!
Sorry Scattercat, Armordillo has been done the last few years.

YES. Mega-beast season, here we come. Allow a humble fluff writer to contribute:

IMPALE-A

A chrome car logo supersized and come to life. Capable of outstanding vertical and horizontal leaps, sudden maneuvering, and incredible speed. Glowing blue eyes and a mercury-like exterior blinding in direct light. Each of its limbs is razor sharp, and it has a very narrow frontal profile. A fearsome melee opponent capable of taking decent damage. Weaknesses include an over-reliance on government sponsorship.

DA SWARM

Not one insect, but a whole group of 2-3 foot angry, gangsta\mobster insects. Needles the knife-wielding bee. Mr. Lou, the mantis with the machine gun. Clip Cliperson, an ant with titanium sheers for mandibles. Etc. etc.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Polly

One-eyed and peg-legged, no one thinks this bedraggled lump of feathers to be a real threat. That is Polly's truest strength. While her enemies' eyes wander to flashier foes and their backs are turned, Polly steals their very essence, using her power of Mimicry to perfectly duplicate their best maneuvers and know what they're planning practically before they do. It's all over before they can blink. Polly wants a crack at YOU!

Monkey Shines

A horde of spectral monkeys with a distributed mind. The individuals have normal ghost powers like intangibility, possession, and dirty dancing; and normal monkey powers like flight, superspeed, summoning buckets and amusing hijinks.

Their main offensive ability comes from flinging spirit poop which drains all forms of energy and life force allowing the creation of additional monkeys in the horde mind.

Their genesis is a bit confusing they either came from the abandoned zoo built over the ancient aboriginal burial grounds by Route 23, or the mad necromancer who got a bit carried away trying to reanimate his beloved service monkey. Maybe both.

Ah, Livingstone, welcome home. The kindred spirit, drawn to its spawning ground. It's like you have dwelled here since Pioneer times.
One additional attribute, if I may: these flying monkeys must shoot flames from their butts.

terror lemmings!
(or lemanhas?)

Made in a Norway laboratory to help the forestry industry, these fuzzy rodents were genetically modified to swarm and chew down bases of trees. We all know what happens when gene splicing goes wrong, and piranha DNA was unfortunately used to increase jaw strength. So these rodent chain saws quickly went feral- and killer. These adorable balls of fur have very strong jaws and surgically implanted titanium razor sharp incisors. They always travel in large groups.

Big Boris IV

The product of a former Soviet megabeast research facility in deep in the Ural mountains (which now funded by a complex international Pokemon trading card scam) Big Boris IV is a massive brown bear. Raised solely for the purposes of megabeast combat and bloated by steroids and assorted pharmaceuticals Boris weighs in at 1,200 kg of high-density muscle and bone.

Highly aggressive, Boris' principle mode of attack is a high speed charge and a brutal mauling. How to stop this monster? Head shot? No, a lifetime of steroid abuse has crippled the big bear's intellect, consequently Boris will continue to fight with only minimal brain function and despite massive trauma.

How about this?

Robotigerbara

A robotic tiger-capybara with retractable electric saw claws and the ability to release hallucinogenic gases that immobilize its opponents. About the size of a great dance, heavy enough to be difficult to knock over, yet agile. Slightly webbed toes give an advantage in water combat. Has a long tail with a razor edge to chop off opponent’s heads. Tough, orange striped skin over metal workings. Spit is highly acidic. Once controlled by radio signals until it malfunctioned and escaped from the secret underwater lab in which it was being developed. Is now highly agresssive and willing to attack anything or anyone.

You can't escape the SCAPEGOAT

His horns curl like the inexorable line of a whirlpool, if a whirlpool were made of a nigh-indestructible titanium alloy. His rear legs pack the coiled power of his onboard fusion reactor, launching him forward at several hundred miles per hour, although they take some time to ratchet back into place afterward. He can eat anything - anything - and not only take no harm, but derive nourishment, or even complement his arsenal. He swallows rocks and craps diamonds, gulps gasoline and spurts napalm, devours garlic and farts toxic fumes. They say it was his mouth that got him into this mess in the first place, chowing down on a mysterious mechanism without considering the possible ramifications.

Of course Scapegoat would have ramifications instead of fortifications. He's an evil genus.

Thanks for the welcome! And yes it very much feels like a old familiar place just met.

One additional attribute, if I may: these flying monkeys must shoot flames from their butts.

But of course - I like it, propulsion, secondary weapons system, and oh, the possibilities of tactical monkey butts - Monkey Butt Death Blossom, perhaps.

Actually, it's poached from Escapepod Episode 140, Astromonkeys, performed by Norm Sherman.

I'm trying to hold back and only post ideas after at least one other person throws one out there. (I could, as the saying goes, do this all day.) You should totally post anyway; maybe it'll be better, ne?

Sheep are plenty different from goats. What about something involving the water-shedding properties of lanolin oil as a superpower? Or maybe it puts people to sleep by making them count it?
