Drabblecast Author Created Mega-Beast Suggestions
As mentioned in the announcement topic, another unique round in season 4 will feature beasts from the rich history of the Drabblecast itself. Listeners, forum'ites, please drag out your old favorite creatures enshrined in DC episodes past. Authors, feel free to plug yourself. Let's hear a little bit about why these beasties would be perfect for the Death-Match!
A few provisions:
Every episode is fair game! This includes feature stories, B-sides, and drabbles.
While 'humanoids' are ok, characters that emphasis the bestial, savage quality typical of MBDM competitors past are most desired.
In general, please suggest characters with powers on par with mega-beasts that have existed in the past. We want parody across seasons, for crossovers, and to keep a rich history MBDM alive, so as to draw comparisons across seasons. Like they do with pro baseball, but more blood. So yeh, Norm might have mentioned Cthulhu on an episode - but is he the best pairing for your Telephants or your Lionics?

Final selections will be made by Norm, the editors, and myself. Use of all characters subject to the approval of their creators.

Some quickies off the top of my head:
Nanuq, the shape-shifting polar bear from episode 127
A Kus (crocodile alien) soldier from episode 155
The Bunyip from episode 163
Snuffles the radioactive badger from episode from episode 81
One of the unspeakable duck monsters from episode 66

The creature from Time Pratt's Jubilee episode made me shiver. Sure, the injured one found was small and alone, but I'm thinking a swarm of the critters. Anyone who's played World of Warcraft will know the terror of pulling a horde of murlocs.
One is a nuisance, but megabeast teeming with them, all shoving their little tridents into every nook and cranny would surely take it's toll.
Plus it's from the deep south, so dueling banjos?

You want to make fun of characters across seasons? Well, I guess that makes cents.StalinSays wrote:We want parody across seasons, for crossovers, and to keep a rich history MBDM alive, so as to draw comparisons across seasons.

Anywho, Frikkin' Teddy Bears! Ep 146

Heard the saying, "if it was a snake, it woulda bit you." However, we need to consider if to do so would be to announce the 2010 MBDM winner 4 months early, foregoing all the drunken, bawdy speculation, and replace it with a month's-long contest to select the mega-beast who will be sacrificed to the Death Worm in the Championship round.
I'm okay with that.
Just sayin'.

The MD worm would be clutch, and I don't imagine us having too much trouble getting permission to use it (winking smiley face). It'd have to be a juvenile though - the adults get pretty big yeh?
Re: R0 - Drabblecast Author Created Mega-Beast Suggestions
I checked Wikipedia (yes, it has a wiki page) and apparently not that much. A meter and a half IIRC. There's no justice in the world if that's true.StalinSays wrote:the adults get pretty big yeh?

Norm mention the mechanical orcas from episode... like a billion ago. Another good one.
I'm leaning Snuffles, Death-Worm, Duck monsters. Though inside info suggests a potentially popular candidate will be debuting mid-month in a Drabblecast episode (I'm doing the cover).
I'm thinking for round order:
1 (editor's choice), 2 (listener suggestions), 3 (author created)

Yeah, last we heard from Morton, he had gotten a magic ring with awesome powers, then we never heard from him again. Come to think, we haven't heard from Adam in a while. Hmmm. Anyway, Morton was kind of a hybrid degenerate human mutated into a megabeast. Certainly would be interesting to see Bo conceptualize him.Mr. Tweedy wrote:Morton.
