Of course, you should always listen to the drabble. Norm frequently makes stuff sound so much better than it reads.

But here are links to the drabble texts, for memory-jog purposes.

The Work That Must Be Done. Can't get much better than this.
You're my quasi-ichthian angel, you're my half-amphibian queen...

That drabble made realize what a sick man Nathan is. I was beginning to think he didn't quite fit in before that. ;-)

I know right? The finals for Drabble are crowded as is but I was surprised to see no love for young Taku and sir Stone.

I think the Wisest Stone works best in context rather than isolation.

"The Miner" almost deserves it just by association with that Epic, rap-to-order, news story that proceeded it. Alas, I have only one vote.

Nathan, your drabble got zero votes. You suck.
Nathan, your drabble is tied for first place. You rock.

Aren't we supposed to get Nathan's hopes all happy and cute... And then bash them a mighty blow in the head?

I played "Work that must be done" to co-workers when I first heard it. NOBODY got it. They had really confused looks on their faces, while I laughed and laughed at the awesome story. I had to explain it to them, and their expressions changed. Not for the better. Geez. I guess there are some people not qualified to listen to the DC.

Yup, I know that feeling - I had to explain it for someone as well...

Before that I had high hopes they would start, however, after I suspect that too much of it would go over their heads. Still, at least mine have some hope, since they found it funny after explanation, rather than giving me the stare of doom :)

I tend to shy away from letting my co-workers know how weird I am. My wife does give me some funny looks, however, when stories like "The Work That Must Be Done" fall into to my Awesome column and her Horrifying one.

"That is an excellent practice. But right now I'd suggest you concentrate on the Jabberwocky."
