Oh, yes. A lovely vicious and twisted little tale.

Re: Vote Here! Best Feature Story
It was the layers and depth of Morris that made it such a fascinating study of human interpersonal relationships.
I've been listening to Mongoose, and certainly it deserves praise, for me, it's more of an epic, wow gee-whiz, that's some awesome world building science fiction dudes *enthusiastic clapping* sort of praise.
But the pathos of Morris brought a tear to my eye.

Am casting the Astroguyz vote for Primary Pollinator... excellent tale that harkens back to Niven's The Integral Trees. Love what it has to say about evolution versus altruism... Dawkins would be proud. Had to listen to this one twice, a rarity in today's content saturated environment!

Re: Vote Here! Best Feature Story
Morris and the Machine has been optioned for a motion picture (except a story this good must be called a "Film"
).
Has that Mongoose fic been optioned? I don't think so. Don't all the Mongoose voters feel silly?
I'm sure if you all petition Norm, he or an admin can correct your votes from Mongoose to Morris.

True it hasn't. But on the other hand they keep making Scary Movie films so my trust in the movie industry to choose quality stories isn't exactly brimming over.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote: Has that Mongoose fic been optioned? I don't think so. Don't all the Mongoose voters feel silly?

Morris is easy to make into a film short since it's not much other than a somewhat pathetic soul going back and forth from the house.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote:Morris and the Machine has been optioned for a motion picture (except a story this good must be called a "Film").

I think Mongoose would be a little harder to film properly. And it wouldn't be no stinkin' short, it would be a feature length film.

But neither of them hold a candle to the mental imagery of The Last Clown Hunt, provided by Norm Sherman.

So true! Tom, get your p-nut gallery to vote for the clowns. We need 14 votes.

The pure congruity of our opinion on this matter makes me fear a semi-largish matter/anti-matter event might occur.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote:Morris and the Machine has been optioned for a motion picture (except a story this good must be called a "Film").

Regardless, we must agree to agree on this issue.

"Morris" could make a potentially fun film, I agree. But this is not the "Most Likely to be Made into a Movie" vote. "Morris" made me go, "That was a fun story about an interesting character. It gave me a lot to think about." "Mongoose" made me go, "Woah, that was cool!"

Why the hell not?! Not only is that a valid reason to vote for the storyScattercat wrote:But this is not the "Most Likely to be Made into a Movie" vote.

That's Tweedy's line. Shame on you.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote:Ah, but for all the wrong reasons.ROU Killing Time wrote:Regardless, we must agree to agree on this issue.
Besides, all the reasons you gave for liking it coincided with mine, pretty much.
So, deal with it.

Hmm, perhaps the humor wasn't as obvious as I though it was... ... Nah, it's you.ROU Killing Time wrote:That's Tweedy's line. Shame on you.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote: Ah, but for all the wrong reasons.

And Tweedy was using the line all wrong! So his didn't count.
