MBDM 2012 - Beast Suggestions [take 1]

Postby StalinSays » Fri Dec 23, 2011 8:05 pm

Welcome back one and all! A bit tardy, but here at last Mega-Beast Death-Match season 5 (2012). Good Times in the End Times!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So this is a pre-season, open thread. We're looking to run the standard 9 beast, 3 hybrid, 1 winner set up. Norm, Adam, the (former) editors, and I [aka the Death Panel], have a few things in mind, but are soliciting you, the faithful listener (or fickle neophyte, either way works), to provide further ideas, so we can shore up the list, and generally integrate the community in to the process.

What kind of beasts you thinking? Got an animal? Got a pun for a name? Got powers? Got all 3? We'll take any amount of clay you have on hand and get to sculpting.

This topic will remain open through the Holidays. Expect actual art and voting and podcasts, all that, in the later part of January. Get hyped people!

..And merry beast-mas! 8)

How about a giraffe with stilts for legs, so he's even taller than the usual giraffe? But all that altitude makes him cocky, so he treats his peers poorly. And he's called Jerk'raffe?

I resist the temptation to utter those two simple words which make the entire snake eating world tremble...
Honey Badger
But I will not utter them here!
My second thought was for a hybrid monster consisting of the Brain eating Nandi Bear and the Mongolian Deathworm... Perhaps, the Lumbricus Ursus But alas, no.
No, for the MBDM 2012, I would humbly submit the following...

I got ahead of myself and combined too. Sorry... Split them up, each is awesome on it's own.

The Snipelouphagus

Let us begin with the snipe: Small, fast. Never actually seen, which lends credence to the mythos that it is in fact invisible. A flightless fowl, it's speed is legendary. However, it does lack intelligence and will follow a flashlight into a bag like a total dumbass. Best weapon against this creature? A flashlight conbined with an area effect weapon.

Now, the Snuffalupagous is much more akin to a mastadon than a mere bull elephant. The shaggy fur combined with the incredibly thick hide form very effective armor. Methods of attack include The SnuffYourLifeOutStomp and HoseAroundTheNextHosed attack. Major drawback? Speed.

combine these too and I believe you'd have a beastie to be reckoned with!

Yay, it's back!

Ok, how about a fat bipedal dinosaur, with lots of gold jewelry, and his primary method of attack is blasting out beats and rhymes at 200db? We can call him RAPtor.
Once you are immobilized by the things he said about your posse, he goes in for the kill with a mouth full of gold teeth.

WooWoo!!

RAPtor makes me laugh.

I think we need more ladies in it this year. We could have an 8 foot lady lizard who walks upright, has the seductive powers of a geisha, and the poisonous bite of a komodo dragon. She could be called Kimono Dragon. She can run down, or mesmerize and lure in her opponent with her sensual powers and flashy kimono robe, and goes in for the kill with a venomous bite. Her hair sticks double as ranged attack missiles, and her "paper" fan is actually an impervious shield that doubles as a javelin/stake when folded.

It's here! It's here! A mega-beast Christmas comes early this year!

I'm thinking horseshoe crab.
Or trilobite

Ha! That's hilarious, love it.

I texted Bo with a suggestion the other day:
Combat. He's an ultra-agile wombat and all 4 of his limbs just happen to be regenerating ninja turtle weapons. Bet he'd be able to balance on the Bo staff leg and kick ass with the other 3, or just hurl himself like a throwing star. A really confusing throwing star.

I also like the Goreshoe Crab/Trilofight idea.

I vote for the giraffe on stilts... I could also go for a near sited squirrel with an acorn allergy.

I had been thinking it was high-time to have a squirrel in MBDM.

Thanks, I am a long time listener, first time caller (?). I did buy Norm's cd last year... My favorite song is Jesus Clones. Kind of puts me in the mood for this time of year. We also like There is a Fetus in your Kitchen. We play it for our friends who do not know who Norm Sherman is so they can get a taste of his humor. So far, not too many bites. I guess I need to get different friends.

And one of his defenses would be that he's hard to follow.

Stone crabs are one of the few crustaceans that a vegetarian can eat, because the claw is harvested and regenerates, (not to mention that they are as delicious as they are costly).

The stoned crab intoxicates his enemy by sacrificing a delicious claw, then regenerates and moves in for the bill

Okay, he also operates a dispensary for crabs with glaucoma. Satisfied?
