Nah, once "the change" hits, and her hair starts thinning and the mustache grows, that's masculine enough to use the "el" form.

Andropause is the male version for Menopause (yes you boys are hormonal too) so this beastie could be male?? Either way a gender confused bat with extreme powers is going kick ass!

Tidbits:
The Lunar Snail has been renamed Snalien (snail alien - get it?), because more puns mean more funs.
Man-Bear-Wig has been renamed Pigwig, to sound less like a Southpark Reference. He's also part pig now. We play fast and loose around here.

Nope. It's a Christmas carol.

God bless ye merry gentlemen, and maybe Jesus too
If we were little piggies we'd sing 'Piggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-woo!'
Oh, piggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy, piggy-wiggy-wiggy-wiggy-woo
Oh, piggy-wiggy-wiggy-woo, piggywiggy-woo!

I dunno... Anyone else feeling burned out already? Too many beasts, too easily eliminated. A lot of good critters getting short-shrift.

Might it be better if we had no more than, say, 10 beasties and they engaged in a Swiss-system tournament? (With resurrections only as needed within a given round.)

It's like the NBA. The regular season doesn't count for squat, cause everyone makes the play-offs. That's where it starts to get interesting because, unlike the NBA, if Shaquille O'Neil is in your division and his team gets beaten, Shaq isn't eliminated. The victor assumes his magical genie powers. The more the season advances, the more awesome the beast attributes, until the final apocalyptic smackdown between Good and Evil.

Painguin shall rise again!

I'm torn here. Personally, I like opening it up to lots and lots of beasts ("too many beasts"); we now have more people's concepts involved, and more rooting interest for when we settle in to the rounds of 3 and the podcast starts. Yes, many good ideas and fun competitors are unceremoniously eliminated (my volunteered concepts have been unanimously bounced via the heats, so I feel it). But then the majority of those felled critters would never have been up for community consideration without the heats. The 9 would have been selected editorially, and it'd be the Death Panel, not the audience, picking and choosing.

I would definitely say it should be 5 beasts a week getting voted on, not 15. That we should have stretched out the heats. It might be that taking 3 months would result in a different type of 'burn out' unto itself. My hope then would be that a longer amount of time taken would leave the window open longer for outsiders to get interested. But it could be that that lengthened time meant insiders get bored, fade out, and we have nothing. Impossible to say.

Idunno, I'm fine by the idea of tinkering, if ASID you have further ideas, or if anyone out there has thoughts. Personally, I don't want to bring in double-elimination, at least not this season, as it is a death match, and if the pretend death doesn't occur as we pretend say it does, the idea becomes convoluted and my imagination implodes.

But yeh, wrinkles for the rounds of three (AKA Mr. D'Ed vs Dreadnaughtilus vs Red Panda {tbd}, etc) I'm completely open. All I'm after is a bigger tent with more people under it. And the girly drinks.

I thought that was baseball. Where all teams play like 2 zillion games per season, team rosters are shuffled, willy-nilly during the season, and almost every team has close to a 50-50 record. Then umpires make questionable calls in the playoffs until the "World" (as long as the "world" is defined as the lower-48) champions are declared.

This is the first time I have witnessed a MBDM, and I really love all the beasts competing. Also most of our submissions were used as ultimate beast ideas, which make it a lot of fun. More beasts mean more battle scenarios, how can that not mean more fun!?
Maybe it would be more exciting if a BattlePanel were to write a blow by blow synopsis after each heat result is posted. You know, a detailed explanation of the blood, gore and maimed tentacles lying on the battlefield.

ASID is right about the correct analogy being baseball. And although Christi didn't mention it, the analogous game down there is Cricket. Which, if you've ever watched, is to baseball as MBDM is to WWII. Except WWII had more comprehensible rules.

There are no rules in cricket. Somone throws a ball with the mass of a rock at someone in ridiculous padding until the crowd's had enough, usually after 5 days or so.
