Two things:

1) I'm incredibly drunk right now

2) I made my first pro fiction sale today

The two might be connected. :D

Thanks, you guys! :D The story is "Photon Girl Ascending," and it's going to be in Penumbra's superheroes-themed issue in May. It's about superpowers and cancer and end-of-life decision-making. DC# 211- "At the End of the Hall" was a major influence when I wrote it, thematically speaking, so if you liked that story you'll probably enjoy this one.

I'm pretty jazzed. Apparently this was the largest number of submissions they've ever had to sort through for a single issue.

My drink- the Godfather: half amaretto, half whiskey. It doesn't have the overwhelming sweetness of amaretto, and it doesn't have the "Oh my god, I'm drinking fire!" of undiluted whiskey. It smooths out the whiskey and it gives the amaretto a kick and a tang. Be warned: this drink, like its namesake, is a smooth criminal. After a few tumblers of this, you'll find it has snuck up on you pretty fast.

If pressed to choose one: Kraken rum, which has delicious adjuncts but isn't too flavoured to to prevent a nice glass of three-water grog when the weather's warm.

...of course, if one could afford it, Diplomatico rum is much better.

Mixing whiskey with amaretto? Seems slightly sacrilegious.

Scotch, on the rocks, or straight up if it's the REAL good stuff, but seldom can I afford that.

The fiery whiskies are supposed to be cut with a splash of spring water. That smoothes them out and stops them bringing a tear to the eye of the weak. ;)

I always drink my Whisky, and also my Whiskey, neat, but I also buy for taste over all else. Glen Livet is what currently sits under my little bar.

But one of my favourites at the moment is Malibu coconut rum. REALLY easy to drink too much of that stuff! :D

I fell under the compulsion to try Malibu Coconut rum, and Amaretto/Irish Whiskey.
Started before 5, but it's a science experiment, and my birthday tomorrow.
I'd have to grade both concoctions as very interesting.
I've got a Mandarin Lime tree outside bearing fruit. Tomorrow I'm adding that to the rum. Calling it the "Faux Pa", since my wife nixed that as my grandfather name.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion!

This made me giggle for about 5 minutes.

For myself, I like beer. I can drink anything, but I like beer. Wine makes me sleepy, hard liquor makes me violent or moody or convinced I'm James Bond Copperfield and I've learned to just stick with beer. Beer goes with everything, from S'mores to steak to hotdogs... I'd rather drink beer than anything else.

Beer is always a solid.
If I'm feeling fancy...Crabbie's Ginger Beer is awesome. It's like ginger ale, but more flavorful and alcoholic. If only it weren't so darn expensive :P

I've become pretty hooked on slowly drinking straight whisky. Now, when I drink beer I always feel a little bloated after more than one.

I prefer low sugar beers like Guinness and some pale ales.

Trouble with beer is that you make it from the same ingredients as bread, but the calorific content is MUCH more easily unlocked by your body. Hence, Beer Belly.

Beers are all very nice, I like them a lot, but it is just so much effort working off all those carbohydrates! :(

You know, that doesn't seem to happen any more.

Anyway, I don't like Soccer. I don't like Cricket either, but at least Cricket used to have streakers.
