What's your favorite word?

Postby unseentangerine » Sun Oct 19, 2014 9:42 pm

I just read the word Slavering in gunsofchekhovia's drabble and I thought, Now there's a word. It's pretty good but my favorite word is Crush. When I say it it makes me think of forcing a piece of watermelon through my teeth with my tongue. My brother likes Saunter an awful lot (I think it's the mental image of someone doing the verb for him). Why do you like your favorite word?
Many on the forum have asked me, so here's my answer: a spoonful of lighter fluid. And you'll need to wash it out really well when you're done.

I'm rather fond of the word Brythonic. And not just on nationalistic grounds either. (Means something very similar to British, but referring to the Iron Age.) I just like the sound of it.

Point of clarification. Are we talking about during sex, or any other time?

But seriously, I like "eschew" followed by "gesundheit."

If talking about sex, let's be satisfied with a simple poll: Is it a Noun/Verb/Adjective/Adverb?
Conjunction is not an option, ROU.
...Nor is Exclamation or Ejaculation.
Although that last is a curiously underused dialog tag.

I'm probably being picky, but as it's a noun, it must have a capital initial letter, Gesundheit.

Palava has to be up there near the top of my list, along with flabbergasted. The latter was, in my mind, imortalised by the British comedian Frankie Howerd in his utterance, "Never has my flabber been so gasted", closely followed on many occasions my "Ooh no, Missus!".

I'd go with 'it'. 'It' is so very, very useful, 'it' is frequently said, and 'it' is also very good at 'it's' job at scaring away the 'Knights who till recently said Ni', for they cannot hear 'it' being said, much less pronounce 'it.'

I really like the word "vitrification". Followed closely by "Gedankenexperiment".
