Hello, This Is Joannie (1979, Paul Evans)

Saw a cool movie/book/greeting card which reminded you of the DC? Talk about it here.

Listening to some unrelated music as I did some chores, this song popped unbidden into my head. The ending is a bit creepy, in good DC style.

And if any of you young 'uns are wondering, the things moving under the phone are tape spools. They're what people long, long ago used to record audio on. I know, it doesn't seem possible, but it's true ;)

Wow.
That's what I'd call an overproduced episode.

Imagine if Norm had expanded 75 lines to 342 Lines...
Imagine 342 main characters, and what their answering machine messages might sound like.
Imagine anything... anything to keep this song from becoming an earworm.

Chirpy Chirpy Cheap Cheap by middle of the road is good for that... Although come to think of it, that's just transferring the problem to a different record.

Audio tape answering machines were a big improvement on the old trained parrots though, weren't they? :D

And the ancient ones who built Stonehenge remember when it was done with spools of wires
