75 lines Lyrics

Postby normsherman » Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:55 pm

I once knew a puppy with a devil of a cough (The Coughing Dog)
I once knew a unicorn, whose horn had broken off (Longing for Love: A Unicorn’s Story)
There were times when I would find myself crawling on a subway floor (Next Stop)
With my hand knockin hard on Uncle Ollie’s backdoor (Uncle Ollie’s Gift)

It seemed like
Sometimes my angel was a demon in disguise (Guardians)
and sometimes my lovers summoned fire from the skies (The Frog Prince)
and sometimes my backup showed up late to the scene (Rutabaga)
sometimes I got diarrhea and I had to wipe with leaves (Epiphany)

And time didn’t stop just because I broke my clock (Vengeance at 4 AM)
Felt like a little black death was always somewhere just around the block (Little Black Death)
With spots and stripes of black and white it looked into my mind (B&W Animals1)
That killer whale made of bolts and nails was my very own design (Free Willy 2.4)

And one day you’ll see that ole murbaby if you can keep it from floppin around (The One that Got Away)
And you shouldn’t just go ferret-church, you should become ecclesiastic (Sredni Vashtar)
And you shouldn’t disown your loved ones, just because their made of plastic! (Day with Daddy)

The porpoise and the octopus may want you to splash around (Metamorphosis of the Phosph Avenger)
But don’t forget your mama when she said “Put that boulda down” (B&W Animals II)
And when a carnie-man tries to offer you a safer place to hide (Momentum)
If you step inside that portal, make sure you’re ready for the other side. (B&W Animals III)

I am surprised there are no comments on this song! I've just listened to this about 5 times in a row and am still trying to take in all the genius. There are so many clever things that move by so fast they are easy to miss, and the whole this is actually a story in and of itself!

This is probably my favorite stanza:
"Then I heard that the man in the moon was a happy man- well fed and well sexed (Luna Springs)
And he sold his dreams while robots cleaned and clones worked out their pecs (Trifecta 1)
But his dreams and mine seemed so much alike, I couldn’t see any differences (The Beekeepers)
I figured his eyes were better than mine- so I took one of his (Marbles)"

I loved "Then I saw the end comin from a mile away, so I traveled back in time (Arc of Hronos)" because I think it's poking fun that this story was so predictable.

"I used my head and my inner strength to overcome my anxiety (Trifecta II)" is also great, compressing all 3 of those stories into one line.
Great job Norm!

Norm is an inventive and talented lyricist, no question. All he needs is a chubby and or deep voiced side kick and we're talking next 'Flight of the Conchords' or 'Tenacious D.'

I listened to it again. It goes so fast, it's hard to catch all the references. But this line cracked me up!

Some kids use worms and some worms use kids, I won’t debate the bait I’ll let you pick.” (Destiny of Man)
You're my quasi-ichthian angel, you're my half-amphibian queen...

Howdy Waints! Welcome to the forums. Check out the rest of the Bbardles in the archive at:

75 lines is a great tribute to the first 75 episodes. Now I wonder, approaching 150 episodes, is it time for 76-150 Lines? Hmmmm, Norm?

Yup, then it'll be off to Hollywood followed by the inevitable stint in rehab, after which he'll probably end up in a gooshy romance flick staring Morton Downey Jr and f***ing Meg Ryan.

I'm going through the old DC episodes, me still being new to the cast, and was listening tot this on my jog last night and had to stop before I coughed a lung up laughing.

Great song.
Let me through, I'm a colour therapist!

This is pretty much the best song ever written. I fall more in love with the awesomeness of Norm every day.
