Reunion
Reunion
For my last wish, I wished you back to me.
It’d been nearly a year since the funeral, but the time had done nothing. If anything, my life had fallen farther apart each passing day.
So I wished.
The Genie smiled, nodded, and told me my wish was granted, and that you’d be home by dusk.
So here I sit. With a bottle of the wine we drank the first weekend you came to town to see me, and cinnamon rolls from the place at the mall you’d always liked.
And a shotgun.
Waiting.
However it turns out, I’m ready.

Re: Reunion
Nice. This really reminded me of another story or movie, but I just can't put my finger on it. Anyone who wishes a loved one back from the dead would be fool not to prepare for the worst. However, if they don't turn out to be a zombie, you may have a hard time explaining away that shotgun...
"Really? A shotgun?"
"But you could have been a walking corpse!"
"But still... I can't believe you were actually considering killing me! Or unkilling me. Or... whatever. Do you know how that makes me feel?"
Etc. Etc.

Your thinking of The Monkey's Paw by W. W. Jacobs.
Munsi it's nice to see realism in horror characters.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Very nice. I would have a shotgun, but it would scare my sissy dog (a golden - y'know, a hunting dog).
