and fires phantom rays, right?tbaker2500 wrote:Where are the brackets again?
Anyway, I thought phantom ray was the clear helper on that missile launch. I mean, he's almost invisible, and flies!

Exactly! I was just arguing this point with a co-worker (and so it begins, haha)cinnamon wrote:"Almost" invisible doesn't even mean anything! You're either invisible or you're not dammit!
I agree. Red Panda is going to gun down that floating manta ray like he was the 100'th luftballon.Mikes wrote:In my mind, this is really a fight between Squarrel and the Red Panda, and that's down to RP's tech and support.
Squarrel's even more quick, skittery and unpredictable than your average squirrel though. He's rabid, frenzied and totally unpredictable in every way. Doesn't matter how cool and collected panda is, he won't be able to find a pattern to Squarrel's movements to effectively target him with consistently. Just think about when a squirrel crosses in front of your car. AGH! do I stop? Slow down? Swerve? AGH, what's it gonna do!!Mikes wrote:
Squirrels move like little, rabid balls of lightening, laping from tree to tree, dodging behind cover, changing direction as if they're not on speaking terms with the laws of physics. The question is; can he get to RP to make those teeth and claws count?
RP's utterly convicted to his cause, and nothing but victory would suffice for him. He'd be able to keep his cool and make every shot count before Squarrel could get near him.
Not to mention Red Panda is less than 1/6 Squarrel's size. Squarrel wouldn't even need to "stuff him" in his cheeks, he could just straight-up swallow that commie bastard.

Re: MBDM 2012 - Round 1 - Squarrel vs Phantom Ray vs Red Pan
Yah, we make fun of that on the podcast too. I agree with everyone saying that the Phantom Ray is a goner...although he's also my favorite.cinnamon wrote:"Almost" invisible doesn't even mean anything! You're either invisible or you're not dammit!

Adam and I have been texting a lot about Squarrel vs. Red Panda and Adam's convinced those turrets would easily mow down the Squarrel, no matter how massive, rage-filled or determined it is coming at him. I think Mikes is right, it does come down to Red Panda's tech and support. But the thing is, we don't really know any specifics about that panda gear.
I would just like to point out that
Turrets are only a weapon mounting system people!
We have no idea what kind of guns or caliber rounds that Panda is actually packing . For all we know it shoots marshmallows. Probably not, but we don't know right? It could be real ammo but something wimpy and lighter, certainly not something that could "mow down" an enormous full-charging Cujo-Squirrel with absolutely no threshold for pain.
Do you really want to base your votes off an assumption?
All we know for sure about those turrets is that they retract, which I guess comes in handy whenever Red Panda goes out for cosmos with the girls on a Saturday night.
Oh, and they probably weigh a hell of a lot, not to mention all that other satellite comm gear etc he's lugging around with him.
The panda's a sitting duck! And not the psychic kind that can shoot lazer beams from his mouth either, a regular old run-of-the-mill duck that is also part panda and just sits there.

I now have this great vision of Red Panda with Tourettes. Man, a little spelling can make all the difference in this fight!

Re: MBDM 2012 - Round 1 - Squarrel vs Phantom Ray vs Red Pan
We're also assuming Phantom Ray had someone else to fuel his rockets (again the lack of apposable thumbs shows its limitations), and that they're tipped with some kind of explosive warheads and not, say, custard.normsherman wrote:Do you really want to base your votes off an assumption?
Let's also remind ourselves that Squarrel's gliding ability means nothing unless he's near some kind of rockey outcrop. At 3 tons he's going to have on hell of a time finding trees which could hold his weight while he launches from the top.
No, Sitting Duck was voted out in round one.The panda's a sitting duck!

Who cares about mounts and guns, the Red Panda has spy satellites and a team of strategists beaming intel right in to his noggin' - invisibility means nothing, paint spewing means nothing, he is getting cheat codes and detailed briefs! The power of information, it's better than guns!
