I nestle the video camera on its makeshift tripod, carefully centering my daughter’s image. She tucks her hair behind her ear and gives a strained smile. She is sixteen, and that hair is long and golden–kissed light brown and straight; she has the gangly grace only teenagers have, that sleek gazelle form. She is wearing khaki shorts and a striped tank top, and the bite mark on her arm is already putrefying.

Good emotional build up, perhaps just a skosh too dragged out. Ending was more of a bummer than a twist, to me. But, I can see where it would appeal to certain people I know.

I don't know how I feel about a mother videotaping and narrating her daughter's last hour.
Wait, what am I saying? Of course I know how I feel... blech!.
I try to distract myself by imagining the daughter is Honey Boo Boo, or that her mom was actually the one who was bitten, and that zombification involves perceiving events as happening to others which are actually happening to you. It actually helps when I don't quite understand what I am imagining.
So I can honestly report that this episode is very thought-provoking.
If you like those kinds of thoughts.
Which, why are you here anyway?
Reading very good.

At first this seemed like just another rendition of the more laboured aspects of the zombie apocalypse genre. I quite liked the ending, mostly because I didn't see it coming.
