Once a year, at dawn’s first light, the dead can be brought back to life. The spell is simple to prepare and cast. Father kneels, holding her, hugging her, kissing her and weeps. She is always as she was before, never remembering her parade of returns in years gone by.
For one day, the world makes sense again. Then the sun’s last rays fall behind the horizon and she is gone. The days until next year stretch before Father like an endless gray fog. It has been said such magic is a terrible curse, but Father knows this is untrue.

I like the narrative style of this. Draws me in. Feels like it could be developed into something longer.

Maybe a little too poetic for mainline DC, but I also really like it.
