The Recession - 100 word drabble
By Bernard Kempinski
His elegant study was a sanctuary after another dismal day on Wall Street.
“Can’t take much more,” he muttered.
Ice tinkling against glass accompanied a sigh as he sunk in the leather chair. Rich wood paneling disappeared into inky darkness as the crackling fire mesmerized him. A vortex of flame jumped from the stone hearth. He blinked, and it took a sensuous feminine form of pure combustion energy. She flickered seductively on the Persian Rug.
“Come here,” she beckoned him.
The vodka martini tumbled to the carpet.
“Dinner’s ready, dear,” cried his wife from the kitchen to the empty study.
