Drabblecast 398- The Day After the Day the Martiians Came

This week The Drabblecast presents “The Day After the Day the Martians Came” by Frederik Pohl. Jokes can teach you a lot about the underlying anxieties of a culture. The old line “take me to your leader” was actually a jab at President Eisenhower’s leadership during the Cold War. This story is about...

Re: Drabblecast 390 - I Will Remain

haha one day Adam. :)

Just watched the Wes Anderson movie Isle of Dogs and it made me think of this story again. Steffen plays with the loyalty aspect of dogs in a cool and creepy (and romantic?) way here.

Re: Drabblecast 397 - Fruit and Words

That's awesome! I didn't notice that about the art Adam! Yah, still finding our legs a little with production balance after relaunch. I think it really works and turns the story into something broader and special when done right-- Drabblecast has always been notable for trying to ad a cinematic elem...

Re: Drabblecast 392 - Single Parent

Thanks Spruce, I would imagine the sudden feeling of responsibility (and possible momentary dread?) would be the same to some degree. It's tough to suddenly find yourself alone in general if that isn't what you're used to in a lot of settings. Of course, we're often not really alone, as I think Sara...

Re: Drabblecast 390 - I Will Remain

Sometimes sound effects work really well in a story. If you've ever heard the general sounds a dog or cat makes when they're cleaning themselves or eating... eeasssh... well... you know what i'm talking about.

Re: Drabblecast 397 - Fruit and Words

It's funny, a lot of people have told me this story feels like a total return to Drabblecast form. I think this one and Single Parent I get the most feedback on these days. Weird is different and fun for different people for different reasons I guess, that's why it's "weird." I think there's a lot o...
