This is just too weird not to share. Essential background info - I was reading a thread on the kitebuilder.com forum about the early days of KAP (Kite Aerial Photography). One link led to another, and while I was waiting for something to finish loading I got up to do some dishwashing. While I was do...

I meant the snow. In my humble opinion, I don't think it buys you much. My personal tastes lead to clean rather than cluttered. Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool, but I'd take the speediness over the cool factor. My motto is "just because you can doesn't mean you should". But if you want to sho...

There is some practical help I could use too: Does anyone know why my site doesn't show up on Google? Google "Free Mode Media" and this thread shows up, but my actual site doesn't. (The irony!) I submitted the URL to Google a couple of days ago and I've got keyword and description tags in the code ...

This story strongly reminded me of Drabblecast 26, Patricia Russo's CRAZY. Strange- I thought it had a very Marblesy vibe. I instantly thought of Richard Matheson's 1950 short (1,245 words) story Born of Man and Woman , one of my all-time favourite short stories, evar . But I got better. You can re...

Re: good episode
It's always great to hear Mur read stuff. The main story was kind of a mix of I Robot (Robot City) and Jacob's ladder. Well sort of. Maybe not. My first thought was of Asimov's Robbie (1940 - robot rushes in front of speeding whatever to save former owner's child), except that this time we get to he...

The site blocker they just put in to my work place network disallowed my entry to the bug fights site. Justification: Tasteless . Made me laugh. I guess someone tending the net cataloging out there is a bug's rights activist. Heh. Here's what I get at work: Access to this web page is restricted at ...

Dude. He's got it made. Either:
A. They can't prove he's a wizard, and he gets to keep his job.
or
B. They do prove he's a wizard, and he collects $1M from James Randi.

That's not Atlantis.
It's Pietmondriaanis.
But there are some remarkable views in google maps, some with iPods, no less.

Re: beasty
Once they get the arm-swinging thing figured out, the HRP-4C will become much more uncanny . Personally I prefer a different tact for anthropomorphizing - why personify when bestial forms are more elegant in motion? Check this recent model: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYptK21vAgQ That's sorta cut...

I think generally you either have to put SFX everywhere, as in a radio drama, or nowhere. When it's only heard occasionally, I find that it causes me to disengage from the story. If you're going to have all of the sounds though, maybe that means you also have to have a full cast. I dunno. As far as ...

I think it's hilarious when I see ads that assure me that there are hawt babes in [local town name here] waiting to meet me, and the named location consists solely of a defunct gas station and a hay barn. Who's to say I wasn't selling them the information? You can pay me to stop. Protection money. O...

My iPod used to be filled with obscure Indie music, Industrial, '60s Rock, and Classical music. Now it's about 40% Surf Guitar music, 10% Classical (mostly late 19th-early 20th C chamber music), 20% podiobooks, and 30% podcasts. Oh, and a couple of selections from some Tuvan throatsinging CDs. I kee...
