If the aliens are cannibals, doesn't that mean they eat...each other? And not humans? I thought something was gonna be up with the girl in the back: "From the glow on her face I figured she was texting someone." Actually, the glow was coming from the LED panel on the torso of her atmospheric contain...

I agree that Armourdillo is a really strong competitor, but I'll make the argument for Pandemic that he's so gross that the other competitors would just as soon not touch him. They'll stay away from him as long as they can, fighting each down until only one (Armourdillo) remains. Armourdillo is, at ...

Re: Scraptor vs. Armourdillo vs. Sharkitraz vs. Pandemic

Scraptor: * May suffer meltdown if confronted with logical inconsistency Armourdillo: * Is fearful of perceived 'sorcery' My question: how debilitating are these qualities, in each case? Does a shark with arms throw Scraptor into a mechanical meltdown? Does a walking plague turn Armoudillo into a qu...

I see two issues at play in this debate: 1. Participants with access to more computers get more say 2. The debate in the forums isn't necessarily reflected in the vote/result Regarding the first issue, what is considered "legal" voting came up during this past round and Bo answered pretty clearly (o...

I agree with Bo, though--I think there's a point there. If Sanitee needs his victim to lock eyes with him, and Chronocerous can't focus enough to lock gazes, there could be a problem. If Sanitee was close enough for Chronocerous to focus on him, the rhino would probably just charge, not bothering wi...

First, I have to say: AMAZING BBARDLE. It's the best present a Drabblecast fan could get! Kudos, Norm. Second, I thought the production was good overall for this episode. My one complaint: I wish the promo had been at the end of the podcast (between the outro and the bbardle, perhaps) instead of bef...

Question: can Sackoon run out of ammo? I'm a Night Owl girl--I agree that he's a prime target for Sanitee, but given his intelligence and dark nature, I think there'd be some back-and-forth mind games, at least not a clear defeat. I'm afraid that Sanitee physical vulnerability will be a problem as h...

This comment amuses me, because I actually wrote the story completely independently, from a prompt; the relation only struck me after I'd finished it. Thanks for the compliments!

I felt like there were thematic similarities between this story and 'Jelly Park' (which is unsurprising; authors have their own interests, as some of you are figuring out about me*). The story started with the protagonist meeting a stranger on a mass transit vehicle, and ended with a strange journey...

Fish pedicures

I doubt anyone here will be eager to stick in appendages into fish-infested waters after the vampire catfish story, but check it out: A salon in Virginia is using a tiny fish called garra rufa - but typically known as "doctor fish" - to eat the dead skin off of clients' feet. Apparently the fish thr...

It's funny you mention that track (if you are in fact referring to the one at the opening), because when it came I immediately thought of another podcast that uses that music as its closing (and used to be the opening, too): sex advice columnist Dan Savage's Savage Lovecast. So, my brain was cued to...

I see no purpose in criticizing what are essentially volunteers. I see great good in promoting excellent work. In my own defense, I've been in a fiction-writing w...

Okay, so: Killer ducks = awesome. No question. But, a concept seldom makes a story (at least, a story longer than a drabble), and that's what this felt like: a concept. Since I figured it out at the duck pond scene (as I assume most did) I kept waiting for the punch..."I figured it out early, so it'...
