I am creeped out that "love baby" is showing up as a phrase I can click on to go to some link. But, I think I feel much the same way tbaker does, in that I agree with what Mister Tweedy said, but I guess I don't realy care who Steve Eley is. I should probably also disclose that I am not a fan of his...

*Off subject!!!!* Unfortunately, I've gotten really tired of Mr. Eley's wanderings. He seems to be a person searching for meaning in his life. Norm, on the other hand, seems plenty comfortable with his own skin, and actively points out how silly the human condition is, and get over it and have fun....

I liked this one quite a bit. The constant naming of numbers of eggs/larvae was a source of amusement for me. And I liked the ending; sounds like the guy's got enough problems that he doesn't need to get liquified. A shot to the groin is dramatic enough.

Kevin, your pumpkins and Kurt's oranges should team up as a violent orange vegetation squad of some sort.

I'll side with BoldDeceiver on this one. I was ambivalent toward the story on Escape Pod and had pretty much the same reaction toward this one. It's not bad writing by any means, but the style is just not my cup of tea.

Particle accelerator may create black hole, cause doom

Two researchers sue to postpone the activation of a particle accelerator that they say might cause a black hole that will swallow up the Earth. The Large Hadron Collider is designed to fire up protons to energies of seven trillion electron volts before banging them together. Nothing, indeed, will h...

I would just like to point out that the four generated ads at the top of my screen as I viewed the drabblenews forum were: Pig Nutrition Used Slaughterlines All About Pigs and Swine Breeding Exporter What is a slaughterline, and why would I want a used one? I guess I could find out by visiting the a...

I agree with the listeners who compared this story to The Beekeepers, and I think it worked for the same reasons The Beekeepers did...except that the end, coming back to an actual character who has been narrating, felt rather tacked on to me, like there could have been more to it. But, I also didn't...

I know people (including myself) like theorizing, so I won't post any actual links here, but in case anyone is curious, the film's creators did in fact write an entire backstory for the monster that explains its form and its behavior. All the information is not public, of course, but you can find so...

All in all, the stories in this trifecta just weren't as strong as the last one. For me, the first and third stories in Trifecta I were exactly the length they needed to be whereas "Chi" felt like it was short because the author didn't know where to go with it. I needed to find out more. "Headroom" ...

Don't knock 28 Weeks Later! Just saw Cloverfield tonight (here in Mexico, it also only opened Feb 1), and I really enjoyed it. I liked the attention to detail in keeping the film the length of a miniDV tape, though some of the cuts felt arbitrary (i.e. convenient)...sometimes it made sense for their...

Mysterious disease among pork plant workers

I have three words for you: aerosolized brain matter . According to this article in the NYT, several employees from a meat packing plant in Minnesota have been diagnosed with an unusual and severe disorder involving nerve damage. What do the victims have in common? They all worked at the "head table...

Well, there ARE other kinds of worms besides that sort that crawl around in the earth (meaning "soil"). But, I too enjoy the dichotomy between Earth worms and Space worms.

Well yeah, but space worms that get eaten by birds, need corpses to survive and live in a park...
My impression was not that the space worms get eaten by birds, but that regular ole' Earth worms are protected out of deference to their more advanced kindred.

I enjoyed the shared narration; it worked really well with this piece. The story was entertaining, but I saw it coming a mile away, so the production saved this one for me.

Two-snouted, three-eyed piglet born in China

It's like a pig was standing with its head perpendicular to a mirror. Man, it's difficult to figure out exactly what's going on in that photo.
